My boys have had solids since 5 months and about 5 months 2 weeks have had solids twice a day. At breakfast they have each have 3 tbs oatmeal and they each have one stage 2 jar of fruit and dinner they each have 3 tbs oatmeal and they each have one stage 2 jar of veg. They have 4 8oz bottles during the day. I feel like they may still be hungry. I know lunch is not introduced usually until 9 months and I know so many dont even start solids until 6 months and even then it is minimal.

Is there anyone who really found their babies to NEED solids more then twice a day at this age.

Sorry I can't help. Mine have always had little appetities. They get four 6 oz bottles a day. DD doesn't always finish her bottles. They get oatmeal and one stage 2 fruit for breakfast and rice cereal with one stage 2 veggie for dinner. That seems to satisfy mine.

At our six month appt our ped said we could add a third meal if we wanted. Mine seem to eat a ton for breakfast and lunch and still BF 5 times a day. I don't think they really need a third meal at this point, but what I've done is put them in their highchairs at lunch time and give them some things they can pick up and eat, like puffs or little chunks of chicken or tofu. They don't get much actually in their mouths, but it's helping them get used to feeding themselves.

At seven months my girls would not have been hungry enough for three meals but it all depends on the baby I guess. At 9 1/2 months I am just now starting to introduce a third meal and I haven't been very consistant with it. If your pedi say ok, and your kids still seem hungy go for it.

I do lunch with them at noon every day. I am not sure if they need it for the nutritional value. They drink 24-32 ozs of formula a day and have breakfast and dinner. But when I do it, it really helps their afternoon nap. Where before they were sleeping 1/2 hour to an hour, now they sometimes get up to 2 hours. So, I like to do it just to keep naptime consistent.

I say, if they really are still hungry, give them more food. or alternativly give them somthing to munch on e.g a teething rusk.

We have been doing 3 meals a day for a while. I'm still nursing and my girls seem to be wanting more food these days!
