My little boys don't like solids...much. They are 7.5 months old. I've tried solids for about the last few weeks....

Kemper will eat cereal and likes it mixed with applesauce but he has to be in just the right mood. We feed him right before a bottle, when he should be hungry or a few hours after a bottle, we try all different times. The rice cereal is constipating him so I'm not going to use that anymore. If I use veggies straight up, he is beyond disgusted. He actually SHAKES, like a pee shiver, because he doesn't like the taste.

Gavin is even worse. He doesn't like cereal, veggies or fruit. He won't even close his mouth around the food. He just keeps the food in there and talks around it and then makes 'raspberries' and spits it all out. He won't move it around with his tounge, nothing. Both boys are super interested in eating, they watch us like hawks when we eat. I've even given them their own spoons with food on it, that doesn't even help.

I try it warm, I try different times of day...nothing seems to be helping. My first DS loved eating from the get go, and is a GREAT eater.I'm trying not to get frustrated but they need to start enjoying SOMETHING. At least one knows how to push it around in his mouth. Anyone know what I can offer? Should I try some puffs, something with texture? HELP....

(and if you know how I can fix my darn ticker, help me there too... thanks!)

I'd start trying finger foods instead. Anything that's soft enough to squish easily between fingers will be fine for their gums. You're doing the right thing to stay calm since they can pick up your frustration and that makes it worse. Just keep trying to find things they like.

I agree - stay calm. Im having issues with my 20 month olds and I try not to get stressed.

I agree with the PP and would try some finger food. Other than that, you could try adding some milk to the fruit to help with the taste/thickness. You can also try leaving it for a few days and trying again. My DD took a long time to adapt to purees so dont worry. I just kept offering, even if she ate just a spoonful, and she got it in the end. GL and hang in there!

 Just keep offering it. My girls were never big babyfood eaters. Once they hit 12 months and switched to solids life became so much easier. (As soon as they accepted real textures they loved it.)

Just keep offering it. They are still really young. Keep in short and sweet and dont let them see you frustrated.

You have the wrong ticker code pasted in your siggy. Go back to Lilypie and get the UBBcode or BB code. Copy and paste that one and you should be in business.

We mixed the fruit and veggies with oatmeal or rice cereal. One LO had a constipation problem at first. I used some apple juice in the rice cereal and it did the trick. Just in case, I always had a jar of baby food prunes on hand - only takes a couple bites at a meal to help. I also did a lot of pear and avocado at first, easily digestible on the system. It took her about a month before I could include the rice cereal without apple juice. Apples (not apple juice) and bananas can constipate some babies. Don't remember when to introduce yogurt, but that was a dream to mix with fruits and veggies too. Hopefully you find something that will work. Good luck to you!

What about oatmeal with the bannans alredy mixed in it. Oatmeal is less constipating. Actually a little too stimulating of the bowels if you ask me....too full diapers. Yuck

I mix oatmeal with juice white grape ...they eat it all up.
Nothing is wrong with fruits. Do whatever till they get the hang.
Squash is a nice veggie, sweet potatoes are also yummy.
Yogurt and cheese are good at 8 to 10 months.

Babies need time to get used to eating solids, it does take awhile. My babies took about a month before they got used to solids.

My oldest one was a late starter with solids, so I empathize with your frustration. I don't have much to add for advice, but just reassurance that it will happen soon.
