Hi Im new here. I just had my u/s on the 20th (tues) the nurse doing it made the remark "ive never seen anything like this!" talk about scaring the crap outta me! what she saw was 1 ges. sac, 2 yolk sacs, and no babies. the doc looked over it yesterday an dsaid "well, i think it may be a blighted ovum, and it wouldve been twins" my periods in march were whacko (i had 2) and i couldnt remember exactly when the 2nd one was. so we are going by u/s dates. does anyone think maybe the dates are off and my babies have a chance of showing up, or should i probably just resign myself to the worst? i go back in 2weeks for a nother u/s if no bleeding occurs. i had 2 m/c at the end of '07. thank you all for any insight :)

I'm not sure, but I just wanted to say I had an u/s at 6 weeks and they saw one sac with a yolk and no baby and a second empty sac. They said it would be one baby and one non viable twin.

Lone and behold 10 week u/s showed two babies two beating hearts and they are now 9months so you never know!

    Good luck

At my 6-week u/s there were 2 sacs. One had a yolk sac and the other one they weren't sure about. There were no fetal poles or heartbeats. I was really worried too. I went back at 7 or 8 weeks and there were 2 heartbeats. You should know for sure at your next u/s. It could be too early. Don't give up just yet. You never know.

:hug99: No advice, I'm sorry. I am definately hoping it's like the pp experience and that in two weeks you will see a heartbeat. :hug99: It could be too early. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts, and please let us know how things turn out.

It is probably too early too tell for sure. My last twin pregnancy we only saw one baby at 5 and 7 weeks. 3rd sono at 12 weeks 2 babies. 1 or 2 days at this point can make all the difference and I hope that's the case for you. Good luck.

Lots of ladies on here didn't definitely see 2 babies before 8 weeks, but still had twins. Good luck!

thank you all very much for your replies! they are encouraging! im thinking 6.5w is maybe a little early to see babies, especially if our dates are off a little bit :/ the "wondering" is consuming me. shewww! ill be glad when i know for sure whats going on.

Also hoping it's too early.. With my twins the first u/s I had I was 6 weeks 1 day and they could see 2 yolk sacs but only one heartbeat. It wasn't until I was 7 weeks that they could see both heartbeats... so, if your dates are off just a little, it can mean all the difference in the world. Hopefully you'll see 2 at your next u/s! Good luck and please keep us posted!

I hope it all goes okay. The beginning is so hard especially if you aren't positive of your dates. Was it a vag u/s? The good news is that you saw the yolk sacs, so thats a start! If you are off by about 5 days or so that could be totally normal. With all my blighted ovums, the sacs were completely empty with nothing in them. My last one was right before the babies and we saw 3 empty sacs at the first one (5w1d) but that was normal, they were still empty at 6w1d and one was not as big as the others. At 7wks they were still completely empty so we knew mine was not going well.
I think its very encouraging that you saw something in them.
I will be looking for the update!

1 baby on our first ultra sound before 8 weeks, next at 10 weeks we saw 2 and we only saw 2 because she saw the heartbeat "jump". We had to do a vaginal u/s to find my second bug. I will pray that your bugs get stronger and show themselves to you in 2 weeks.

At our 7 week appt, we had only one with a heartbeat. The other was just a yolk sac. When we came back at 9 weeks, there were two heartbeats.

Wishing you all the luck, and a fast two weeks!

Also hoping it's too early, and that your next u/s will go well! :)

No experience with it, since my first u/s was at 7w6d and we got both hb's right then, but at such an early stage of pregnancy embryos grow at an astronomical rate. Just days will make all the difference. It's no fun to have to wait 2 weeks, but by then you should have a definite answer. Hang in there and keep us updated!

    Good luck to you.
You said that you had two periods and the dates are whacky for the time of your conception. Try not to worry because it was probably just too early to see the hearts. The yolk sacs are very encouraging though. Hang in there.
Try taking another HPT in a week. Should give you an idea of what is going on any way. (Although please understand that this is NOT fool proof as every woman's hormone levels are different and can fall at different paces during a m/c, I just know I wouldn't be able to idly wait either. LOL)

Hang in there, chat some with the ladies here and let us know how it goes.

hi, I just wondered how yours all turned out? We thought we were 8 weeks, but then I got spotting and minor cramps last week, had an emergency us and found 1 sac, 2 yolks. I've got to go back this week for another ultrasound but as I've been bleeding all week, I am not too hopeful. Hope you're doing ok.
