Hi, I just thought I would find out if there are any other "early birds" out there. Seems like everyone is doing so well and pretty far along, like over 20 weeks. Looking for some reassurence about getting through the first trimester and any other welcome advice. Thanks! ;)

I found out I was having twins when I was only seven weeks. Congratulations and take advantage of the fact that you have so long to get used to the idea and to prepare.

[SIZE=12pt]Congratulations on your twins and welcome to Twinstuff!! :sign0016:

I also found out at about 6 weeks that I was expecting twins and found that trying to relax was the best thing for me to do. It has been helpful to read about others experiences but I keep reminding myself that mine may/will be different just because I'm different. ;) I guess what I'm trying to say is try to enjoy this as much as you can and before you know it the first trimester will be over. Try to keep your focus on staying healthy and growing your twins!!

    Congrats again!! :D

I am still pretty early.. I didn't find out that I was having twins until 11 weeks though. I had it so easy though and I feel really bad for the women that have the horrible m/s. I didn't have any.. I was hungry 24/7 and had extreme fatigue.. but that was about it.

You came to the right place though.. these women are so helpful. I bet we get some more early birds in here soon.

Thank you Mel, you are all so wonderful. I was a little naseus with my first daughter. This time around very naseus, but have not got sick yet, and very very tired too.

    Congratulations! That's wonderful!
I just added my ticker which says I am 8 weeks 3 days based on my lmp. I was figuring 6weeks 3 days since conception. Which do you go by? And how do they know if the babies are identical or fraternal? My doc just said we don't know yet.

Congratulations!!!!!!! I also found out when I was 6 weeks. Mine are most likely fraternal. I have been much more tired and sick then with my first. I hope that your little ones take it easy on you!

I found out about my id twins very early… 5 w and a few days, I found TS a few days later… BUT…. I never posted… I just looked around until I saw dancing babies at my 10 w u/s… so there maybe a few moms reading but not posting… they are still digesting… but I remember that too… I thought everyone was almost done and I was the only newbie… but you will see, soon moms will start to post and you will even have a small group due within a day or two of you… I have about 4-5 moms due around me, and I refer to them as my cronies when I speak of them to my DH

    Oh… congratulations and :sign0016:

I was told mine were most likely identical because we couldn’t find my membrane (so they looked like they were in one sac able to touch each other… or worse get tangled up in each other) and they shared a placenta… but they eventually found the membrane but still share sac and placenta… mine have also been only an oz difference in size… but there is a slim chance they aren’t id, and I think only a DNA test can confirm it 100%... if my boys end up not looking like each other I may do a DNA test… but every Dr (and I have 3) that have looked at them have all said they were identical… of course if after they are born and look alike but have different blood types they are not identical… look at the Olsen twins, they are not identical (according to IMDb), but sure look alike to me (but then again I don’t look at them much)… HTH

I found out at 8w3d that what I thought was a 10w singleton pregnancy was now a twin pregnancy. I came here shortly after and it seemed like everyone was so much further along. I felt like the only one that was so early in my pregnancy. Now, all the sudden here I am almost 36 weeks and getting ready to deliver in the next two weeks. It really does go by so fast, so try to enjoy every minute of it. For me, this is my last pregnancy so I've been trying to love every second! Of course, I'm at the point now where I'm ready to be done, but it's been so wonderful!!

Best wishes to you and try not to stress too much. I stressed a lot from about 12-18 weeks and I wish I could get that time back to just enjoy the pregnancy!

I found out at my first obgyn visit at 9 weeks. I'm only 21 weeks now. The first three and a half months for me were very bad- lots of vomiting and nausea. As a matter a fact, I lost about 15 pounds. I am doing fine now. You will do great too.

Thank you all so much again. It is reasurring to hear all of your stories. I will try to relax more and enjoy this time. It sounds like it goes fast. I really don't remember the with my first, except the end seemed to take forever!

I also just found out I was pregnant with twins, at 8 weeks. It was a complete surprise to me, and also to my husband who is away with the military right now. I have been researching twins on the internet and I also have a friend who was pregnant with twins, but lost them at 8 weeks because they shared the same amniotic sac. So, needless to say, I'm a bit worried about the risks that come along with twins! I'm excited to join Twinstuff and read what other moms and expecting moms have to say!

    Hi,

We found out we were having twins at 6 wks. I am now at 18 wks. It was a shock for us! I had a miscarriage last fall and we found out May 24th we were pregnant. Then May 31st starting with some bleeding again. We could not do an ultrasound until 6 wk. We have had another episode of bleeding in July (on our first anniversary) But again everything looked good.

Now we wait between each appoitment to be sure things are going well...

Good luck wih your first trimester! I just found this site yesterday so we are both new here!

    :D

    Hi there
I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow, so not that far ahead of you. Looking forward to the first trimester being over so that I can breathe easier knowing they are both likely ok! Did you have fertility help? I did, 3 rounds of IUI then one round of IVF which worked. I am excited but nervous at the same time......

    Congratulations and welcome to TS!

It can be difficult without a DNA test to tell for sure if the babies are identical or fraternal. If you have an early u/s (prior to at least 11 weeks) and they look like they share a placenta then there is a good chance they are identical. At any point after that, it's too hard to tell if it is 2 fused placentas or a single placenta. Other than that, the only ways to tell in utero are if they are boy/girl twins (fraternal), are monoamniotic (identical), or if they end up with TTTS (a placental issue that some identical twins sharing a placenta can get).

    Congrats again!
