My girls love their cereal & veggies. I give them 2 oz cereal w/half jar of fruit in the mornings around 8-8:30, then veggies in the afternoon around 3-4. I had been giving them a full pack each, but after I noticed that they were not drinking enough milk, I decreased the veggies to where they split one container. I'm not sure if that 's the right thing to do or not. But I know the formula has more nutritional value then the stage one foods. Anyway, here is the food schedule. What am I doing wrong??? Now sometimes, one will eat 6 oz, but that is rare! And they are not eating on the 3 hr schedule like before. I know they will start to spread them out, but they are not increasing the amt of formula. I think the most time they have went was 5 hours between bottles.

    4-5 am (sometimes) 3-4 oz
    7-8 am 2-4 oz
    8-9am cereal w/fruit
    10:30-11 am 4-5 oz
    Nap for 1-2 hours
    1:30-2 pm 4-5 oz
    3-4 pm veggies
    5-6 pm 4-5 oz
    8 pm 3-4 oz
    asleep by 8:30 usually

    Should I be concerned??

    Thanks ladies!

    Hi Jess!
At 6 months my girls were getting 4 bottles per day, about 6 oz. each. They have never taken more than 24 oz., so it sounds normal. I wonder if you could try to make bigger bottles 4 times per day. At that age my girls were getting their bottles at approx. 6:30, 10:30, 2:30 and 6:00. I wonder if you could get rid of the 4-5 bottle and combine it with the 7-8 bottle, making it a 6 oz. bottle at 6:00 a.m. It might take a little work since that's what they are used to,

IMO - decreasing veggies to keep their formula intake is perfect. That's exactly what we were told to do by our pedi because my girls did the same exact thing. It sounds like your girls are very similar to mine!!

My girls only take 28oz. a day. They both eat (4) 7oz. bottles. I give them cereal and 1/2 jar of fruit in the morning and then either 1/2 a jar of meat or a whole jar of veggies in the afternoon. So seems pretty normal to me. :)

Actually I think you are doing good. Sounds like they eat more solids than my boys and they are the same age. The boys also eat on avg 4-5oz per bottle but still like the 3-4 hr schedule. We only do breakfast and dinner and I put them on 2nd foods. The Pediatrician was all for bumping up to the next stage and even said I could give them baby cookies. At night I will add bananas to their bedtime bottle with oatmeal or rice cereal.

I think you are doing great! We didn't break 24-26oz until we switched them to regular(rice)milk! I think you did right by decreasing the solids for now.

Jess, I am going to agree here with Beck and Michelle. I think decreasing those veggie solids is a good idea but don't be too concerned about the milk intake. My oldest never drank as much as my twins and he weaned from formula very early (about 10 months). Good luck! You are doing a great job!

My girls have just turned 4 months and I have been giving them 6 oz., four times a day for awhile now. I have been toying with the idea of giving them cereal......

My boys are 5.5 months and have been eating 7-8 oz, 4 times a day, since they were about 4 mo old. We have just started to introduce solids.

Your girls sound like mine. I have to fight to get 20oz into them both per day, generally 2-3oz at a time. They just will not finish a bottle. They do cereal w/fruit in the mornings and every once and a while we will do just a veggie at dinner time (no cereal or they wouldn't eat enough formula). Still, they are gaining okay so we're not too concerned. On really good days they will take 24oz but that's rare these days.

I hear about all these kiddos that will take 30-35oz per day plus two meals of solids and I can't help but worry but they seem to be thriving so I try to push the worry aside and remember that every kid is different.
