I find it hard to believe these precious 2 babies are 6 months old today. At 10:30 on January 10th I was having my last NST. We discovered Elizabeth was inactive and they decided I needed to have them that day. At 4:04pm 2 little miracles arrived into this world. to me they are just perfect.

    Some 6 months stats:

    Thomas has drank 5,055 oz.
    Elizabeth has drank 4,092 oz.

For a grand total of 9,147oz. Some of this was breast milk early on but most has been formula. Assuming it was all formula and we bought our brand of choice we have spent $1,281!

Thomas has had his diaper changed 971 times, 267 of which were poopy.
Elizabeth has had hers changed 949 times, 224 of which were poopy.

That is a grand total of 1,920 diaper changes of which 491 were poopy. This has cost us about $500.

During this 6 months Thomas had gained about 14 pounds and Elizabeth about 12. Thomas has grown 8 inches and Elizabeth 7. We are now on our 5th diaper size and 5th clothing size. We are finally in size 1 shoes (they have tiny feet)

I cannot believe how much I love these little ones. I never knew I could love anything or anyone the way I love them. When I was a Nanny I always claimed to love the children like they were my own. Oh how wrong I was.

Each day when I wake them up they smile at me and my heart melts. Sometimes I even hug them and cry. They are my miracles. I never thought I would have them. So many obstacles were in the way.

I needed a husband, we needed him to earn a good enough living for me to stay home and the biggest obstacle of all was the surgery I had on my cervix in 1999 making it harder for me to carry a baby. (Turns out this was a non-issue)

I am so proud to be their Mommy and love watching them grow. I do miss my newborns though and that is why in the next week or so, we will be trying for baby #3 and maybe even #4. :)

Thanks to all of you for being there for me. I am not sure they would have made it to 6 months without Twinstuff!

congrats. I am very impressed at all the stats you have kept up with. Time does fly. I was holding one of my friends newborn baby the other day and I started crying because mine are so big already. Happy 6 months. Oh and congrats on wanting another one. I had my tubes tied and that might have been a mistake... Sometimes I really think I would want some more. Oh welllllll.....

Oh...my...GOSH! I am so glad you posted this! I thought I was insane for wanting another one already! I even looked on the expecting after twins board to see if anyone had conceived so shortly after their twins (I didn't find many). I don't think I could convince my husband and I know we're not in a position financially to have another baby, but the thought has crossed my mind so many times. Congratulations on a fabulous 6 months with your babes and happy TTC!

Oh we cannot afford one either but DH is pushing 40 and doesnt want kids after 40, Hopefully his new job works out well and he keeps it. It is a risk, but if we wait until all is perfect we wouldnt have any more. In fact if we had waited we would not even have these 2.

Aw, what a sweet post! And it makes me feel better too - I thought I was the only one anal enough to keep a log of every last detail! Sometime these kids are going to be teenagers and look back at those old sheets, roll their eyes, and mutter, "Pathetic!"

Good luck TTC! You're totally right, if you wait for everything to be perfect, it'll never happen. A friend of mine with 3 kids said, "Babies are born with a loaf of bread under their arm" - somehow you find a way...

That was beautiful. You are such a good mommy, your babies are so lucky to have you. I wish I would have kept track of things like that! That will be really neat to look back on when your twins are older. GL on TTC, you are an amazing lady.

LOL - I fill in a chart much like the one we used in the hospital. Each night I drop it into Excel.

    :)

While I'm THRILLED that things are going so well and impressed by your stats, i have to admit to feeling a sense of shame and self-loathing that I am not dropping stats into Excel...or even keeping track of how many diapers A DAY we go through! LOL

Great news. as for the being able to afford kids, i always tell people that i my parents had waited til they could afford us none of us would have been born.

It's pretty amazing, the intensity of feelings. i find that evne in the middle of the night, when i have literally not slept a night through in almost a year, i'm ok with it, because these no-longer-so-tny-bodies are getting bigger eveyr day, and soon they will be in kindergarten (ok,k they're only 9 months, but...)

Six months is a major milestone...i realized that although i still check on them a couple of tiems while they're sleeping at night, i no longer EXPECT to find one not breathing!

LOL on the breathing part. Only now can I actually sleep. In the beginning I was so scared. Elizabeth was sooooooo small!

Dont feel bad about the stats. I am slightly sick about things. I was doing it because of the reflux and the fact they were not eating. Now it is habit. I am consdering stopping though. We shall see.

That's really neat to see. I don't have the patience to keep track of stuff unless I need to but have often wondered about how much they really eat or get changed etc. It seems like alot and by your figures I can see it is! Thanks for the info!
