Just curious as to how long other people's 6 month old babies stay awake for between naps. Mine go about 1.5-2 hours. If it goes longer than that, they have a major meltdown and can't get to sleep. Am I doing ok??? Just checking in to see if I am on the right track. I have them napping in their cribs, and they sleep usually from 6:30 pm until 5:30 am at night.

I agree, sounds perfect to me! Mine were the same at that age. They'll let you know when they're ready to be up longer.

Mine are the same way...after 2 hours, forget it, but if I hit that sleepy window about an hour and a half after they get up, they take great naps. They are still taking three naps a day (2 hour, 1 1/2-2 hour, 45 minutes) and sleeping from 7:30 - 6:30 (although DD has two teeth breaking through so the past two nights she's been up complaining at 5). I'm curious to hear when babies typically start to be able to stay up past 2 hours...mine have done it when we've been out ot had visitors, but they seem happier to get their naps on time. Hope you get some good answers!

Ok good sounds like we are doing things right. Just wanted to check in. I wish mine would take 2 hour naps but it is usually more like an hour. I don't mind though. I changed my life to fit theirs.

My boys day currently goes like this

5-5:30 am: up to eat (usually 7 oz)
    6-6:30 am: back to sleep
    7am: drop at daycare
8-8:30 am: up for the day
10:30-11am: nap for about an hour
2-2:30 pm: nap for between an hour and an hour and a half
5:30 pm: nap for about 45 minutes
7:30-8 pm: Bed for the night

I think for 6 months your babies are right on track. We also have the problem when they stay awake for too long things get ugly. I'm hoping that starts to go away sooner rather than later.

Mine do the same thing, so they're taking three naps a day,and the longest nap is 1.25-1.5 hours, and they're sometimes 45 minutes. They dropped the evening catnap about a month ago and wanted to go to bed earlier. One DD now goes to sleep at 5:45pm and the other about 6:45pm. They both sleep until 6-6:30am. One DD was waking up at 5am but has been stretching that out later in the last few weeks.

I'm also looking forward to them staying awake for longer stretches as they're so much fun now!

my girls have just started comfortably managing more than an hour & a half in the last couple of weeks. they're sitting around 2 hours right now - although Riley did 2.5 yesterday with no meltdown.
