my girls are both weighing in at 12 pounds 13 oz

they are so little! I was shocked that they didn't weigh more - they sure feel heavier than that!! our pedi says that they are growing fine and since they both weigh the same she is not concerned! then we went out to eat and the baby in the booth behind us was 4 months old and weighed 14 pounds!! her mother said - well since they are twins they were probably tiny at birth and preemie!!?? NO - they were born at 38 wks 4 days and each was well over 6 pounds!!
my babies eat well and look healthy - but now I am so worried!!
I know all kids are different but how much did (do) your babies weigh at 6 mos??

    thanks!!!!!

    THey are just fine!
    We had our 6mo check up 2 wks ago;
Anni was 12lbs6oz, Ainsley was 13lbs4oz.

They're tiny and perfect. As long as they are making their milestones adn the pedi says all's well, don't worry! And hey, they can wear their 3mo old clothes longer!

Heather, I think my two were around 16lbs by 6 months. They aren't really that big now at a year though, at 22lbs. At least to me they aren't! Josh was over 25lbs at a year! As long as the ped isn't worried, try not to worry about it. Did he give you the ok to start solids?

My little guy was 18lbs 4oz ... yes, he is a little chubby. My sweet girl was only 14lbs 3oz. I agree with the PP that if your Pedi isn't concerned you shouldn't be.

My girls were both 14 3/4lbs. The important thing is that they stay on their own curve :)

The pedi said something to me when we first brought the girls in that really sticks with me everytime I see a baby that younger than the girls and obviously bigger: "Rarely do you see 6' 2" twins. Usually twins are on the smaller side, because of thier initial growth environment. Sure, larger twins happen, but they are not the norm."

And add to the longer 0-3 month clothing...easier to carry around together longer!

At 5.5 months mine were 15lbs 11 oz and 16lbs. If the pedi says they are fine, then I would definately go by that, and not worry about it.

I have big girls. They were right around 18 lbs @ 6 months and now at 9 months they are 22 1/2 and 23. They are so chunky! But adorable! Every baby is different. My nephew is 2 1/2 and my girls weigh as much as him. Don't worry - they are fine. You see the looks I get when I tell people how old my girls are. I can't tell you how often I hear "they sure do eat well".

The nuggets are 16 pounds and 17 pounds 4 oz at their 6-mo checkup. But they are also very "tall" babies (Chase is in the 95th percentile, and daddy is 6'6" and he's the SHORTEST among the males in his family) so you gotta take that into consideration as well. Liek PP said, if they are following their own growth chart, they are just fine!!!

Your girls sound just like my granddaughters. They will be 6 months next week and are wearing 0-3 month clothes. At 5 months one weighed just over 13# and the other just under. As long as they are growing and eating and healthy I wouldnt worry. I was just out and saw the girls and they are doing great.

I agree with pps - as long as your pedi says they are fine and they are staying on their growth curve, all is well!

Lauren was 14.12 and Emma was 15.7 at six months. There are a set of twins in my playgroup that were 17 pounds at a year, so it just goes to show some babies are just little. :D

Mine weren't that big either and right around the same weight. Don't worry but I understand why you are because I did/do the same thing!

that's what I'm thinking now!! because they look really healthy - just small !! maybe they will be lucky and never have a weight issue!!!! :D

I was worried to begin with too as every time i got them weighed the weight gap between them got bigger and bigger and she looked tiny. I just figure now that Jack is always going to be bigger than Sophie and she is just going to be petite and pretty!! x

Both my guys were 19# at their visit, but big doesn't mean healthy!

This week we find out whether Danny needs just a helmet or actually has to get his skull broken in surgery b/c of his misshapen head. My other guy Ryan wheezes and may have asthma...and both are in twice-weekly PT for torticollis.

Very grateful they are not seriously ill, just saying if your dearie girls got a clean bill of health from the pedi that's all that matters! I'd trade a few lbs for perfect health for my guys!

Mine were 18lbs7oz and 18lbs6oz but they started off big, and they stayed pretty much on the same curve (my girl up from 75% to 90%) and my boy from 50% up to 75%. My oldest has been 95% for everything since the day she was born, so I am not surprised.

The boys weighed about 16lbs at 6 months. Our pedi has never been concerned about their weight, he has said that they are long and thin though, basically small framed guys. I think he said, "Let's put it this way, these boys won't be pulling the plow".

I've always thought that there's too much emphasis placed on babies being big and chubby. There are so many different healthy body types! At 8mo O & B only weigh 17 1/2 lbs, but we've since stopped worrying about it. They're super active and ahead on all milestones.
