Well my babies had their 6 month well baby check today (they will actually be 7 months in 10 days). I thought they were finally getting bigger, but guess not.

Camden weighed in at 11 lbs 4 oz and Ciara is only 10 lbs 11 oz!

You would think after having 5 kids I would feel confident in what I'm doing, but I feel like I'm not doing something right. They eat 6 oz every hours, have 2 solid meals a day - and still are barely gaining any weight. It's been 3 1/2 months since their last check up and they haven't even gained 2 pounds!

Other than that they are happy, content little stinkers. They are both trying to crawl and close to sitting unassisted. Guess they are just going to be little

Cori, don't be so hard on yourself. What did your pedi say? Maybe they are just small fries! :D

LOL! I say that all the time too Cori!! I think as a mom, it is our duty to always second-guess ourselves!!

It sounds like they are eating plenty, and happy....I don't know??!! What did the ped say?

Ped said they are gaining, which is a good sign. He'd like to see more growth obviously - he feels like their weight gain has leveled off, which isn't what they want to see this early.

He wants to see them in a couple months to see how they are gaining. He did say they were eating plenty (he actually said in total ounces they were eating alot considering their weight), and they are hitting other milestones which made him happy.

Guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and see what comes up at their next appointment. If they haven't starting gaining more by then I might ask for them to look into a little more.

I agree it is a bummer when they aren't what you want them to be at a certain point. But I guess you should take comfort in the fact that the pedi is not worried. That's reassuring and I'm sure you are doing a GREAT job - tons of experience under your belt for sure.

Mine were small but they were early. I would be worried because my little twin was already 11 lbs at 6 months and she started out at 2lbs 13oz. There isn't really much you can do at this age to push weight gain other than being really agressive about getting as much formula/breast milk in them as you can at every feeding or put them on high calorie formula.

2 lbs. is GREAT!! I wouldn't be so hard on yourself! They will grow!! They won't do it all at once and I think 2#'s is great!! :hug99:

I have small babies too! My guys weighed about the same as yours at their 6 month appt. Maybe they really are just small fries!

Happy and healthy is the key. If they are hitting their milestones and eating well then you are doing everything right! Sure more weight would be nice but if they are not meant to be big babies then they won't be. Just keep doing what you're doing and remind yourself that each baby will be different! :)
