Ok so I have started planning their bday (yes it is in December, but wanting to buy stuff on sale) Anyway, usually they have wanted the same themes well this year one wants an Ariel party and the other wants Mickey Mouse. Has this happened to any of you guys? What did you do? We usually have it at our church b/c it is free and all their friends are at church, plus I have a big family!

We dont let them choose. This year they had a luau. Next year, they are having a pirate and princess party. His will start about an hour before hers and they will overlap.

When we have had it at home, I have just done the different themes for each table, we always need 2 tables anyway. I do wait until a month before the birthday before making them pick their themes, since they can change often, especially at that age.

Yes I let them choose we've had kung fu panda and curious george lol, just had mixture of both plates and napkins and both kinds of balloons mixed up together oh and two cakes of course. Happy Feet (penguins) and ?? can't remember have to find the photo's for that one. Usually with the invites let them chose there special friend to send there favourite character to then I would split up. But last year they wrote their own, so each child got two invites.

Mine have always wanted the same theme, so I am not much help. Although since it is such a long time until the party, I would not be surprised if they change their minds at least once between now and then.

I would probably get some decorations and party supplies for both themes.

We usually have different themes they want. We usually split it up with one theme plates and the other theme napkins (I don't buy balloons). We also either give them individual cakes with their own themes or put both themes together on one cake (my dad makes them their cakes every year so it's nice to see how he puts both together), we ask them if they want one cake or two depending on the themes they have chosen. I also let them pick out their invitations and then put a little note on the inside telling them what the other theme is. Last year we had a Scooby and princess Barbie party and they picked out a Barbie invitation and I wrote something on it about Scooby.

Last year mine wanted different themes. One wanted jungle one wanted dogs. So we bought half the supplies in each. We had cupcakes so I bought little packs of safari animals and one of dogs and put an animal on each cupcake (making sure they got a special one each) Anything left over was used up through out the balance of the summer (pic nics and camping) This year they both chose puppies. We like animals at our house! So, it was/is easier. Anyway, I "try" to remember if they had "traditional" babies I would have been buying the supplies individually. I also try to keep it in mind when buying other things.

Yes I am so glad you said that b/c I tell myself that all the time. I think I am going to divide the room in half and do both themes. I always say if they had different birthday's this wouldn't even be an issue.

One year we had a balls and trees party. Weird themes and it made an interesting combination. Sure, it didn't look like a birthday party from a magazine spread but nothing about twins does. ;)

we have actually had separate parties one year & they both got to chose the place (one chose a gym with a foam pit & the other chose a bounce house). they couldn't agree on a place & we wanted them to have the party they wanted & with everything- clothes, activities, interests, etc.- we try to treat them as if they are singletons born on the same day esp. now that we have a singleton & the twins perceive it as not "fair" that he's "alone", as in not a twin. having their own parties was a good experience for them. they really enjoyed having their own party & being the center of attention instead of sharing with their twin. we did them on the same day & invited g's class to his party, & o's class to his. it didn't cost us anymore since the total number of guests was the same. when we do the parties together we suggest a couple themes & they decide together. they always have their own cake & get to pick it out (decorations & flavor since one likes chocolate & one likes yellow). if there are 30 people invited then each cake is made to feed 15 people. ariel & mickey will be easy if you want to combine them- just do a disney character party & let them have separate cakes with their own themed decorations. or you could decorate half the party ariel & princess or under the sea & half red & black with mickey, do separate favors & if you are up for it do 2 invitations & send them to the guests each twin comes up with.

We just had a My Little Pony/Hello Kitty party on Saturday. Half of the napkins, plates, etc. in each design. Fortunately the unifying color was pink, so all the "extra" napkins, etc. were pink. We got a cake from Costco so they had to choose one of their stock designs (they went with the rainbow cake) rather than trying to combine the themes. We hung multicolored generic "Happy Birthday" balloons around the house. They both wanted #5 candles for their cake (they each got a separate one) rather than 5 candles each, but they wanted us to sing to them together. I gave them a lot of choices this year, but limited them to a couple of options. Everything went great. It was a wonderful party.

We're having 2 different themes. Jayden wants race cars and Jesse wants Hello Kitty.
I think these deserves its own topic.

They only wanted separate themes one year. I think they were 3 then. We had Bob the Builder plates and Thomas the Train napkins, and Grandma made them a sheet cake with Bob on the left and Thomas on the right and both boys' names on it. They each got a bunch of balloons, too, Brady's with a mylar Bob balloon and Hayden's with a mylar Thomas.

Yes it is their day and they always get to pick. We get general plates and the only theme thing we buy is the cake.

I always try to get the girls to have the same theme. I also have a DD who is three years and 3 days older so we if we have a "big" party for them, all three have it together.

Whew! I feel better about secretly planning my girls' October party! Obsessors, unite!!

The past couple of years, I've gently steered them toward something. We've never done a character theme, but we have done (1)princesses, knights & dragons (2) pirates & princesses (3) tailgate party. Their birthday is in late October and I always ask the guests to dress up - and they love it! For the tailgate party we had kids in jersey, one even in a helmet & pads w/ his eyes shadowed and several cheerleaders. I have a tomboy and a real girly-girl and the combos have kept them happy.

So, in your case, I'd go with a Disney theme. Lots of options, lots you could add in. Oh, did I mention I have a fall break from school and usually spend it (most of the week!) getting ready for the party. You may not want to listen to me at all.

We buy/do what each one wants. I would never make them have the same.
