Yay, I finally have a few minutes to share my story with everyone. The twins are great, and pretty much sleep all of the time, but with five children someone always needs something. Hopefully we figured out how to post the pictures. All were taken when the girls were about four hours old.

On Friday I went to the mall and walked for over an hour and a half, hoping it would trigger something! On Saturday my family and I went for a nice walk around town, as it was a beautiful day. Again, I was hoping... Then after the kids were tucked in, my husband and I engaged in some fun! :D I am not sure what helped, but I went to bed around 11:00 and woke up just about an hour later with contractions. They were still a bit irregular, but over the next few hours I knew it was the real deal. I woke my husband up around 4:30 a.m. on the 6th and we started making sure everything was ready. I wasn't in a big hurry at that point, so I took a shower and got ready. We called my sister at about 5:30 to come over and be with our other girls, and then paged my OB at around 6:00. Contractions then were 5 minutes apart and lasting about a minute each.

My OB was supposed to have the weekend off, but he gave me his pager number when I saw him on Thursday and told us to call him so that he could be the one to deliver our girls. He had agreed to deliver vaginally even though B was bouncing back and forth between vertex and transverse. He also worked with my husband in the past, and didn't want anything to go differently than we had planned. He is awesome!

We got to the hospital around 7:00 and were hooked up to the monitors for a while. An u/s had shown that B was once again vertex-yay! I was almost 100% effaced and just 3 cm. We hung out for a while and then they let us get up and walk the halls for an hour. It was actually fun because on a Sunday certain areas of the floor were dead and we had a whole wing to ourselves. It was probably the most time we've had alone together in ages!

After I was rechecked and had only dilated another 1/2 cm, they went ahead and broke my water. After a couple of hours I still only went to 4 or 4 1/2 cm, so they started the pit. I was really hoping to get away from that this time, but it wasn't as bad as in my past labors. I started contracting hard right away, but was probably really only in a lot of pain for about two hours and then got my epidural. My BP had been high, so the epidural brought it down really fast and I got a headache and some nausea. Still, so worth it. I was probably about 6 cm then. For the first time in days I was able to lay back and relax, and even dozed on and off. After a little while one of the midwives came in and said she was going to check on my progress... Holy cow, I was fully dilated!

They got my OB back and we were in the delivery room within about ten minutes. Everything was also set up for a c-section just in case. Baby A's heart rate started to drop, so they just told me we needed to get her out fast. At 4:07 p.m. Cassidy was born after two pushes weighing 5 lbs. 5oz., and measuring 19 3/4 inches long! They put her on my stomach and all I had time to do was marvel at how small she looked before they were checking B's position with the u/s. Unfortunately she had turned breech. Her heart rate dropped to 60 and they decided that it would take longer to do an emergency c-section than it would to try to get her out. They knew she was small. With just a few frantic pushes, Chloe came into the world butt first and weighing in at 5 lbs. 3 oz. and measuring 19 1/2 inches long. Both girls were perfectly healthy and got to join us in our room after about five hours when their body temps. and sugar were regulated.

Honestly, it must sound like a boring story because it went so well. (Thank God! :) ) If we had written a script about how we wanted everything to go, it couldn't have turned out any better. I only needed two stitches, and I was up and all over the place right away. I took a shower before I even left L&D, and haven't missed a beat. My husband has always been the best labor coach, and keeps me laughing all the time. He is also amazing about cleaning the amniotic fluid off me, changing my sheets, etc. I love him!

So, we have been home since Tueday around noon, and enjoying our big family of girls!

My peri changed my date almost a week ahead after an early u/s because they were measuring bigger. After delivery the general concensus was that they were more like the 36 weeks and two days my LMP dated them as. So, the hospital considered them 36 weekers.
