Seth turned 5 m yesterday… and I haven’t got much sleep over the last few nights… he is put down on his back… and flip on his tummy… so if I hear him making noise in the middle of the night I go in and flip him back around… but if I give it 2 min… noise stops and he is sound asleep on his tummy AND I do have to admit… he has been napping longer and sleeping in as a result… but I want to know… how many of you still go in and flip your 5m olds back on their back? He is very strong… and can lift his head (as a matter of fact he will lift his legs up as well making a little U) so I know he can move his head AND he can flip back if he tries (but rarely does)… just curious how many flip 5m old back or let sleeping 5m old baby’s sleep

    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

Once my girls were able to roll over on their own, I did not flip them back over.

It's a losing battle. I did it the first couple nights then gave up.

I would say if he's comfortable sleeping on his tummy, let him. Mine have been tummy sleepers for a while and I have noticed they sleep so much better!

I didn't. My ped said that if I can flip w/out waking up I can do that. But they always woke up. So I left them. I would turn their head to the side for a couple months though :)

At first I would try to roll them to their backs but wasn't very successful. Our ped said that if they were strong enough to roll over to their tummies if was okay to allow them to sleep that way. I was glad to hear that, because they slept much better that way.

Ours were tummy sleepers too, still are.

As soon as they do it themselves, I would leave him alone.

after two nights of constantly going in and flipping marina back over i gave up. if they can hold their heads up and can roll around, they're fine (at least that's what i'm told). my girls are mostly tummy sleepers (like me)

We are tummy sleepers here, too. They both roll over the second their butts hit the crib. Rolling them back over is futile. If they can roll and move their heads well (which they should be able to do at 5 months) I would leave them be and enjoy the extra sleep! :)

The first couple of times they did it I rolled them back over but then stopped because they did sleep so much better then they eventually learned to roll the other way themselves.
