Wow we're away on vacation and the nights have been really, really tough. It seems someone is waking up every half hour for some reason or another. We figured out one of the twins is waking himself up by rolling over onto his stomach. What do you do about a baby rolling over in the night? We went to babies r us today and bought and bought an apron with wedges to prevent rolling. But it says that when they can freely roll over not to use it anymore.

Has this happened to you? What do you do about it? When is it okay to let them roll over and sleep on their stomach? (However, that wouldn't solve our problem because he cries when he rolls over because he doesn't seem happy when he rolls over.)

I think it's okay to let them sleep on their belly when they are putting themselves in that position. Sorry, I don't have any advice but I hope it works out for you soon so you can all get some rest.

It happened here too... but they got used to it pretty fast. It's easier to roll back to their back in the crib too, so once they figure it out it will be much easier.

We have that with my daugher right now. If shes happily sleeping, with her head to the side so she can breathe, we leave her. If shes upset, we move her, or if she is wedged in the corner we move her. Yeah, its definitely a pain in the butt. Talked to the pediatrician, and there is pretty much nothing we can do until she figures it out herself.

Yes, once they can rollover on their own, it is okay to leave them there. I wouldnt use a sleep positioner at this point since he will just wriggle around over it. I hope he gets used to it soon so that you can get some rest.

I remember going through this and worrying if it was okay. I just let them do it and eventually they got used to it before they learned to roll back over by themselves. With every new milestone at this age it really disrupts their sleep but hang in there, it is all a phase and will change again.

sorry i haven't read any other replies... one of my boys started rolling over at 4 months and would cry at night when he did it. i rolled up 2 towels to put on iether side if him which worked well enough while it was a problem. now he is 6 months and sleeps on his stomach fine. you may just have a tough couple of weeks while he gets used to it. hth

Well, phew! We had a decent night last night. Once I got them settled, which was hard for one baby, they slept through the night only waking twice.

I did use the sleep positioner and it worked well. I checked on him through the night and he was on his side at one point but couldnt roll over. Next time I checked, he was on his back again. Anyway, I think I will use it until he is used to rolling over awake. He just started and is just not acustom to being on his stomach.

Also, while at BRU, I bought a air purifier which makes noise similar to home. I think that helped a lot!

Maybe we will be back in business. THey are both down for their first morning nap and it was a breeze! Yippee! Fingers crossed!!

Glad you had a better night! Once they start rolling, it's ok to leave them on their bellies. When my babies started doing the rolling/crying in the middle of the night, at first, I would 'show' them how to get back over a few times, and then let them figure it out on their own(which usually ended up with quite a bit of crying for a few nights).

My son woke up every time he rolled over when he was just learning to roll over.
Lots of times babies practice their new skills in their sleep. usually it just takes a simple rub on the back and some shooshing to get them back to sleep.
Ever since my littel guy could flip to his stomach hes been sleeping that way since.

going to a new place is always hard. get them accustomed to static or a certain cd. Its easy to turn any radio to static or find a cd player to pop in a cd. thats what we do when we travel.
