My girls have just been invited to their first birthday party - this coming Saturday at a bowling alley. The party is for a boy in their class who's turning 4.

So... what does one buy for a 4 year old boy? I *think* he likes trucks and cars and Spiderman, but I'm not really sure. And do I buy one present from both Piper and Cricket? Or two - one from each of them? There are only six kids invited.

    Thanks!

I try to bring one gift from each child invited, but I know some people bring a more expensive gift from both (or all) kids.

My 4 yr. old really likes any of the hot wheels and match box things. He also love the Imaginext stuff, but some of that can be quite pricey. Air hogs is pretty popular and not too pricey. We saw a bunch at Target this past week that Gabe was going crazy for. Some popular games are Operation and this one that has these bouncing frogs that you try to get into a tree (I can't remember the name, but he loves it). Anything outdoors would be popular I'm sure as well. I'm thinking things like sidewalk chalk, bubbles, a sprinkler, kite, etc.

I hope your girls have a great time at the party!

When my oldest was 4, he liked anything superhero related (still does, really) and any of the Fisher Price Imaginext toys. He was/still is into fun craft activities - Target carries some of those craft kits where you can make your own bouncy balls, paint your own nightlights, etc. DVDs of movies like Incredibles, Monsters Inc., Spiderwick, etc. are always good, too. He loved (still does) board games - favorites include Zingo, Green Eggs and Ham, Chutes and Ladders, Candyland, etc. Any kind of outdoor toy has always been a hit too - tis the season for water guns, which are always a lot of fun.

Enjoy shopping! Hope the party is fun! :)

Can't go wrong with legos or anything with wheels.

We bring a gift from each child.

My boys are very into the building toys now, Matchbox cars (they went nuts over a couple of the color change kind and those are only $2 each), and anything that they can play pretend with.

I agree with PP's suggestions regarding anything Imaginext, Legos, and superheroes. As for 1 or 2 gifts, I would bring 2 gifts or 1 that is the equivalent of 2 gifts. HTH!
