Do you have a 4-year-old checkup with your prediatrician? I just called to schedule ours and they said they don't do a 4-year one, only a 5-year checkup. Just curious what schedule is recommended for your kids. :)

Our Ped does 'em. Not sure what they entail since my kids are only 3.5.

K&M had their 4 year check a week after their Birthday.

They got some shots. From what I remember, they need so many shots before starting kindergarten. I could have waited and had them get ALL the shots at their 5 year check up but opted to split the shots between their 4 year check up and 5 year check up.

They also got their eyes checked and attempted to check their hearing.

My oldest DS got a 4 yr checkup. They did the routine stuff and also checked vision and hearing. They also made him draw a picture of a person.. He got shots as well. I was told they could get the shots at 4 or 5 and I went ahead and got them. I dont know if they 'split them up' as a pp mentioned but he did get some shots.

Mine had a 4 year old check up and they also got a number of shots. I think most of the shots could be done between 4 and 6, but we went ahead and got them finished. I'm surprised to hear your pediatrician doesn't do an annual well-child check up. I think most insurers cover that.

Mine have had an annual check up since they were 3. We have needed the checkups for camp and school each year, so I can't imagine why they would say they didn't do them.

It changes yearly here. My boys will have a 4 yr appt. But dd only had her last one at 6. At that time they only did them every 2 years. But now its every year again. who decides this? ins or drs?

I don't know, but I do know that school and camp require a medical form filled out that has to be based on a physical that took place within the past 12 months. So mine have to have a physical every year.

I assumed that it was yearly. I figure they have to have it for school anyhow. Thanks for reminding me...I need to call and schedule ours.

I'm assuming we have one because at 3 we talked about things we would revisit at 4....(herniated belly button).

I think we do, because I called the doctor recently about an issue, and he said he'd look at it at Nadia's 4-year well check....

Yes, we will have one. But it will not be in March since I made last years appt way too late. And they only schedule them in 12 month intervals.

We have to have one every year for school, so I need to put "Call pediatrician" on my list of things to do. I have to set up the 2 year appt for the boy as well. I think they'll probably have theirs in March.

We did, and they got a bunch of shots at the 4 year check-up. I think that they got all of the shots out of the way so they will not have to have any at their 5 year check-up. they also did a hearing and vision test at their 4 year check-up too.
