How many ounces did/do you feed your 4 month olds at each feeding (every three hour schedule)? Thanks so much.

I am feeding them between 4-6 ounces...is that enough for them to ever sleep through the night?

We were doing 23-25 ounces in 24 hours. It was 4-5 ozs. every 3 1/2-4 hours during the day and one feeding at night. At the girls' 4 mo. appt. our pedi told us to cut out the last nighttime feeding. Instantly one of my girls started sleeping through and it took about 9-10 days for the other one to sleep through. Starting at 4.5 months we went to four bottles during the day, 6 oz. each.

Ours eat approximately 4-5 ounces every 2.5 hours (sometimes less, sometimes more). They have been sleeping 8-10 hours per night for the past 3 weeks.

We do 6 ounces every 3 hours, I small bowl of rice cereal during the day and 8 ounces at their last bottle.

Sounds like a sufficient amount to me. At that age mine got that as well as a solid feeding before bedtime, and MOST night (not all nights) that helped them sleep thru better/longer.

My babies are big eaters. Ava is drinking 4- 6-7oz. bottles/day, plus usually (but not always) waking once at night for 5-6oz. Aidan is drinking anywhere from 4-5 8oz. or more bottles a day. Ped. told me this was too much. He is sleeping through the night with no problems, but I'm trying to restrict him to 8oz. (and no more than that) every 3 hours during the day. She also gave me the ok to start cereal with him, so I'm doing that in the evening.

Mine are 3 months, but were born pretty big. They eat 5-6 oz every 3-4 hours. And occassionally 7 oz before bed time.

I've got big eaters too...my guys eat 7oz 5X a day (ie. every three hours). They sleep from 7pm to 6am. We do put rice/oatmeal in their bottles, but that never did anything to their sleep.

The important thing is to make sure you are getting enough calories during the day so that they aren't waking up hungry (which translates not to "empty" tummies). They may wake up at first and think they are hungry, but if you know they've had enough during the day (and their bellies are not empty), I would hold them off as long as possible before feeding during the night. Or, slowly reduce the amount you offer at night until they just don't wake up for it anymore.

HTH! Hope they start sleeping thru soon. Shannon

We have been doing 4-5 bottles a day. They drink 5-6 oz each. Pedi said they need 24 ounces a day and we get that easily. I am just starting a cereal/fruit feeding each day.

we would do 6 oz. every 4 hrs. and a little bit more right before bedtime or maybe a little cereal in the bedtime bottle. we didn't do any through the night feedings unless they woke up wanting one which usually was not the case.
