t i have the chance to get a 3d u/s on the 29th of Dec instead of waiting til January 12th i know they wont look cute and chubby but i really want to see them moving and grooving--She said i "might" not see the gender? at 20 wks i should be able to see right? I was told to drink tons of water from now til the u/s for a better picture- Has anyone done one this early with the twins?
At 20 weeks, heck ya. On regular u/s we saw at 18 weeks and I think some saw before that. And with 3D being more detailed don't see why you couldn't. Dianna
I agree w/ PP they saw our boy bits on a reg u/s at 15w 4d with me… and 3/D being better… the 3/D place told us we should have our 3/D around 20-23 weeks, 22 being the best for twins… after 24 you run the risk of smooched together babies… but I know many have had good results later in pregnancy… and that’s just what the one out by my house said, I haven’t called others… good luck....
We weren't able to get very good gender shots with the 3d/4d because of how the babies were laying. I think at around 17? weeks was when we were told 'probably 2 boys' but by around 19-20 weeks, it was obviously a boy and a girl! My OB has done US with every appt and he usually switches it over to 3d even if just for a few moments to try to get me a good face shot, but you're right, after 23 wks or so, things get crowded in there and it gets kind of hard to do them. We do see cute little glimpses though!!! I hope you are able to find out for sure at your 20 wk appt too so you can go shopping and start to really get ready!
I just had mine yesterday and they do look cute and chubby actually. They can also tell the gender as long as the babies aren't being shy. I would definitely go for it. They had told me that I didn't need to drink a lot of water because they are big enough to see just fine now without filling the bladder til it hurts. But if your dr. says so, go with that definitely. You will have a great time looking at them, I did. Enjoy.

You can sure tell the sex then - we saw the gender at 15w4d with a regular ultrasound! Also, drink lots of orange juice and they will be more active and moving so they won't be "hiding" their goods.
