3cm dilated, 75% effaced

I was checked at my NST on Friday due to all the contractions I was having and I was 2cm, 50% effaced. I was let off bedrest and I can stop taking my oral terbutaline, so I had a fairly active weekend. We figured it might be our last before the babies are born so we went to dinner and I went with DH to the store a couple times.

Today I went in for another NST and was having contractions again along with a lot of cramping and a backache so I was checked again and am now 3cm and almost 75% effaced. The nurse kept me for 1 hour to see if I made any more progress, I didn't, so she sent me home. But she did say she expects to see me back in the next few days.

How long do you think it will take before active labor sets in? Did anyone else have experience with dilating early?

I am soooo jealous!! You sound like you are going to go this week!! All I know is that I "might" be losing my plug. I don't even have one contraction on the NSTs.

With my first set I was 2cm and 60-70 thinned out at my 37.3 wk appointment - I still ended up being induced at 38wks. So, it could still be a few more days - or not. I would think you will have a fairly quick labor once you do start though!!! Rest up!

 

Wow! You are so lucky! Two weeks ago I was 1cm and 0%, last week I was 1cm and 50%. I am looking forward to hearing that I might catch up to you this week!

I am not sure how long it takes... with my singleton last year I delivered one week after my OB said I was 2cm and 75%. It was only one week before my due date.

I think it can depend on who checked you... a woman with smaller fingers will measure a 3cm differently than a man with larger ones..sorry TMI, but it is true... I've had my measurements come back differently depending on who was doing it!! But if you are really, conservatively at a 3cm, then I say you will go within a week...just b/c you are ALSO 75% effaced... if you weren't effaced at all, then I might say you have another 3 weeks or so!! hee hee.... hope it all goes well and you have a smooth and safe delivery!
