I am sorry to keep posting like this but I am SOOO ready to give birth. I vent to my family but I don't think they understand quite like you guys do.

I feel so huge right now. I can't even get up off the couch without tiring myself out.

As far as contractions, for the past two days I have felt nothing but pressure! Monday I went to the OB and I was dilated 1 1/2 cm.

My OB would like to induce on Monday (if I want to). Does inducing make labor worse....I think I have heard that somewhere.

I don't know what to do.

On one hand I want to give birth NOW, and the other I know she can;t stay in my belly forever.

I know how you feel I went to 39 weeks 2 days. Actually, I was scheduled to be induced the morning after my water broke and I still had to be induced. I don't know that it made labor worse, I think it would have been the same whether I was induced or not. Schedule your induction and you may be pleasantly surprised to go before Monday, I had no signs just got up to go to the bathroom and Baby A's water broke. GL!

No advice as I've never been induced. I hope your little one decides to show up soon!

I think being induced and it taking longer depends on the person. I was induced with my first dd. They broke my water . Within 4 hours she was born. All my labours have been around 4 hours. My sister was induced with pitocin and she laboured for around 20 hrs. But she's had long labors with all of her's. Hope all goes well with you. Good luck!!

I wouldn't induce. Your chance of ending up with a c-section is too great by inducing. Also, what is baby isn't ready? 40 weeks is a suggestion, not a deadline. Hope you go into labor on your own and soon!

Absolutely agree with this! I personally would never induce unless absolutely medically necessary. I understand waiting is hard while chasing around twins! I sympathize! BUT, it will be far better for you and the baby to wait until the baby is ready. Your due date isn't a deadline, as much as OBs make it out to be. I was 40wks 4 days. I knew I would go into labor, it's just waiting on when it will happen.

For me, it is not worth the risk getting induced and increasing my chance of a section. I LOVE that my baby came when SHE was ready. I will treasure that forever. It was worth the wait. :) When I think about all I went through in waiting and not allowing any interventions to having her in my arms, I'm just filled with love and joy in my heart. As you can tell, I'm still floating from my most recent birth.

I'm all for patience, as thin as it may be. You are SSSSOOOOOOO close!

I was induced at 38 weeks due to high bp and my labor was a breeze. I had contractions but was feeling no pain until my water broke at 10:30p, I got the epi and slept until I started pushing at 3:30a, the twins were born at 4:30 and 4:37. I think the condition of your cervix has alot to do with it, if you are already 1.5 cm dilated and effaced at all you will have much more success than someone with a closed, thick cervix. I would go on the opinion of your ob, I know after a certain point in twin pregnancies the placenta can start to age and not work as well making it healthier for the babies to be out than in.

I dont know what exactly induction entails... I was given pitocin with both of my first two children and it makes the contractions a lot more painful, and felt to me, like someone was burning me inside, or like a knife.. It was very painful.. The pitocin is the reason I had an epidural.. I wanted to go natural, especially with my second child. I was already 5 cm dialated, and my water was leaking, and I had NO pain... I guess the Doc wanted to get it over with.. so they gave me pitocin, and I got the epidural like an hour later, and had my daughter about 45 minutes after that. I really wish I couldve gone without the epidural.. I could have if they didnt give me that dang pitocin!! ;)

I agree.. 40 weeks is not a deadline.. just a suggestion. I know I was certainly ready any time after 37 weeks with Evan. He came out bigger than I imagined, but healthy. I would wait. I know how you feel... ready.. but give it time to let it happen on it's own.

Term is anywhere between 38 and 42 weeks so there is still some time. Due dates make patience so difficult though. I've been induced twice and I wouldn't call it pleasant. I really didn't have a lot of pain (except for after my water broke with Dax) but the contractions were huge and close together and I can only imagine how much more comfortable I would have been if I could have gone into labor on my own. You can bet I'm definitely fighting for that this time around.

If you are intent on induction, make sure to find out your Bishop's score. It will give you a better idea of how successful your induction may be and your chances of ending up with a c-section. You can find an example at:

Thanks for the update. You're still in my thoughts! Hope you have a beautiful birth.

Oh, I noticed your ticker has you 39w5days pregnant. In your post you state you're 40.3. Either way you're right there!

Yeah, I never went back to fix the ticker. It was a hassle just to get it there....my computer fault, not the tickers. The 40.3 goes by my last two ultra sounds.

Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts.
