Had my 36 wk appt today (3cm, 70% effaced, measuring 42wks)...dr asked me when I wanted to deliver, said I could be induced next Thurs 18th(37 wks) if I wanted. Otherwise I can wait it out until 38 wks (Jan 25th)...OR I could ask to be induced the 22nd, LOL. I don't know what to do!! How did you decide? Really the 18th or 22nd would be more convienent, but if they aren't ready, do I really need to push them...but then does a 3 days make a huge difference (I think on the 25th I'll be induced no matter what)? Man, I thought I would be jumping all over the prospect, but now my mind is crippled & I'm worried about making the wrong decision.

    Help...advice, opinions, words of wisdom?

i think which ever day you want will be great!! if you are super ready - go with the first one - if not go with the 25th!! that
short time period should not make that much difference-
    good luck!! keep us posted!!

Wow congrats on 36 weeks!! I think seeing as you are partially dialated etc they will come very soon on their own! So I would schedule section for 37 weeks [IMG]

    GOOD LUCK!!!

My only experience with induction is with my ds. I was begging to be induced..but in hindsight, I wish I had just let myself go into labor naturally. I had immediate contractions because of the pitocin, but was in labor for 24 hours. They wouldn't give me an epidural because I wasn't dilating fast enough (though they won't do that to you with twins luckily) and were already threatening to do a c-section! Luckily my water finally broke and things started progressing quickly from there. He was born about 2 hours after my water broke. I think if I had just waited until my body was showing signs of being ready to go into labor, it would have been a much smoother process.

with that said---your body is clearly getting ready to give birth seeing as you're dilating and effacing (mine was not). and as we know, everyone's experience is so different and everyone's body reacts differently. I just thought you might benefit from hearing one experience. I hope you make the decision you're most comfortable with, and congratulations on being SO CLOSE! that is awesome.

well I'm oneto always take the easy/fastes way out when it comes to delivery (within reason of course. if the Dr wasn't offering I wouldn't do it). so if it were me I'd take the earliest option. but then it depends on how you feel. I'm always so ready to be done at the end of my pregnancies that I'm sure it'll be easier to take care of them out than in. so maybe use that as your guide? if you're not totally miserable you may want to keep 'em in for a few more days. but like the PP's have said it does sound like your body's getting ready anyway, so I'm sure it won't be long no matter what day you pick. good luck! let us know what you decide. can't wait to hear your birth story.

Thank you for your opinions! I initially thought the 22nd, but after a good nights sleep (ha, that was a BIG joke, "good" sleep) I have decided on the 18th. I feel comfortable that my dr wouldn't reccommend anything for us that wasn't safe (even though I'm aware he can't predict the future). Plus I've done some reading, including in Dr Luke's book (be that good or bad) who says that delivery for twins is typically safe & healthy between 36 & 38 wks. So with a lot more justification, probably some crazy, I will be calling Monday to try to get in Thurs.

Soon I'll be holding these little angels & have a insane household of 5 kids!!

My daughter was 36wk 2 day at her last appt and doctor wasnt going to do anything til week 38 1/2. She was 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Two days later her water broke and two hours later girls arrived via c section as baby a was breech. This was this past Thursday. Babies are doing GREAT. No NICU time at all and mom and girls will be going home tomorrow. So.......... point being you may very well go into labor on your own before next appt. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
