Well, I have finally made it to 36 weeks! Honestly, everything has been really easy. Everyone at the OB's office and the hospital (for my NST's) have said that this is an ideal twin pregnancy, so I really can't complain. I do have the typical swelling and my b/p goes up unless I lay on my left side, but it goes right back down if I do. Trying to get up out of bed is painful as well as rolling over. My belly is sore from stretching as my uterus is at a huge 52cm! (My OB finds it funny his computer won't let him put in over 50cm... have to admit, it is comical until you think about the fact that I am carrying all that around with me nonstop!) I have decided to take everyone up on their suggestions to use a wheelchair to go to and from the OB department at the hospital for my NST's, and use the motorized shopping carts at the store when shopping. I get too tired way too quickly and the contractions I end up with are really strong. If I am good, I end up with only 1 or 2 contractions a day.

My delivery date is May 13th. I have only dialated to 1cm and unless I just want to know from here on out, my OB isn't going to do checks. Both babies are head up. I am really disappointed. I was honestly hoping for a vaginal delivery. I have 4 other children and really feel like I need to get up and do things right away, as it's the end of the school year, and there is so many things to go to. There are graduations and spring band concerts for my 6th graders, play day for my 2nd grader and spring concerts for all 4 of my children as my high schooler is in choir. Considering I am suppose to deliver the 13th and school is out at the end of May, I am really bummed!

One question I have is how soon after your c-section were you able to get up and walk around? How soon were you able to have the catheter out? I have had surgey before for my gallbladder. I can't stand having that in. It is one thing that I will freak out about, and it is making me really nervous. Any input would be great.

Tammy, :clapping: for getting to 36 weeks! Sorry the babes are head up. :hug99: As for your questions, I was able to get up and walk around less then 24 hours after my c/s. It was painful, but it helps speed up recovery. By 48 hours after the c/s, it was alot better walking wise. The catheter got taken out right before I started walking, so about 20ish hours after my c/s. They asked me if I wanted the cath put in before the spinal or after, I chose after so that I couldn't feel it. Worked out well for me. My advice would be to get up and walk as soon as possible, take the meds on time, and ask {if they don't offer} if they could give you a girdle like thing. It helped strengthen my muscles and it made moving around much easier. Good luck!! :)

Wow, you are there! :D Maybe you will go a bit sooner than May 13th. I worked very hard to go into labor, and it worked! ;) As for c-section questions, I never had one. My sister had her twins by c-section though, and she was up and around in a couple of days. You will have to follow the restrictions though. I will be thinking of you, Lisa

Yay for 36 weeks! I had my c/s at 38 weeks...I don't remember how big I was though. I'm sure I was huge! Anyways... I too had the catheter put in AFTER the spinal-that's how they do it at my hospital. I never felt a thing. I LOVED IT! I walked into the OR at 12:20pm. My boys were born at 12:57 and 12:59pm. That night at 10pm, I got up and went to the bathroom with help from the nurse. It was not easy-but the sooner you do it-the better. Her shift ended at 7am, so when she came in around 5/6am, she got me up out of bed again, went to the bathroom, and then she took the catheter out. Didn't feel a thing!

I would try not to stress over it. Once those babies arrive-that's all you will be thinking about!

My c-section was at 5:00 pm. They had me up walking the next afternoon, it was not easy at all, but they said the sooner you got up and did it the better.

Congrats on getting to 36 wks! Way to go momma! I had a c-section as well. They normally have you walking within 24 hours of the c-section. Painful, but it does get easier each day. After 3 or 4 days post op I was able to get up without assitance and walk around. My catheter was placed after the spinal (definately recommend it) and was removed pretty soon after. Unfortunately my body forgot how to pee and after sitting in the bathroom for 30 minutes they had to put it back in. After that I was fine though and they were able to take it out. Just take it easy and don't try to do too much too quickly. Take advantage of any help that is offered to you in the hospital so you can get your rest and your body can heal. You'll be up and about in no time I'm sure. Good luck to you and your sweet little babies!

Thanks for all your input. I will have to remember to make sure they put the catheter in after the spinal. I am still hoping for the twins to turn, but not expecting it. My feet are so swollen today it's unbelievable that they are mine! They are soooo sore. I am going to go and soak them in cool water, then I am going to put them back up. Thanks again. I will keep everyone updated as the days go by. Hard to believe it's just around the corner!

    Tam ...
your situation is just like mine i am 36 weeks today schedualed c-section for may 13 and breech babys..... as of last wed i am also dialted 1 cm my belly measures like im 44 weeks preg .. it seems like im stuck in preterm limbo..lol .. a part of me wants to go into labor sooner but then again i kinda like the idea of a planned go smoothly c-section. I am so nervouse about the whole thing as for my daughter she was a vaginal delivery.( 14 years ago) .i dont like the idea about a catheder (bad spelling) kinda freaks me out i wonder if you pee automaticaly without realizing it or thinking about it or do you know you are going and will it mentally mess with me..lol....i know that i want a oxygen mask on me incase i have a freak out attack and i want vicks vapor rub crammed in my nose so i dont have to smell anything weird..my biggest fear is my joker of a husband some how shape or form says something or does something so stupid that for some reason makes me burst out laughing that my insides go flying..lol..oh man this is to much..

I'm heading for a c/s too. I have a footling breech baby and a baby soooo close to head down if her dang sister would get out of the way. I've tried promising them a car when they are 16 if I can avoid surgery but no luck so far. I got a tour of the OR and baby room today at the hospital. Boy that makes it real. Wishing you an easy recovery!
