Well, that appointment did not really go as expected. My u/s "suggests" that my baby boy is 6 lbs. 11oz while baby girl is 5 lbs. 8oz. (I know there is often error in sizing at this point of the game). My little girl has always been a bit behind her brother, but still growing well. The u/s tech also looked at the blood flow through her cord and said that looks good. Both were visibly practice-breathing with the little girl outperforming her brother. Both fluid levels looked good, too.

Then, instead of my regular OB, my appt. was rescheduled with the PA in the office. The PA knew I was disappointed that I wasn't seeing my OB, but promised she would make sure that my Dr. immediately saw the results of the u/s and heard my questions when she arrived later that afternoon. I also measured 45-46 weeks and was 90% effaced, 1cm dilated.

Well, I got a call a few hours later from the PA and she said that my doctor wants me on COMPLETE bedrest at home! What?! I have had it in my mind that I was going to go into labor soon and get to see these little babies. (At my NST at 34 weeks, I was having regular contractions) I guess my doctor wants me to get as close to 38 weeks as possible...and to see if we can get the little girl to grow a little more. I just feel so frustrated. I know it's good for the babies to keep baking, but I am kind of worried that I am going to have a giant baby boy and a petite little girl. I am also someone who likes to be in control...and I feel like bedrest at this point of the game doesn't seem necessary?!

I've been crying a lot off and on this afternoon...I also put on 10lbs in 2 weeks (some of it is water weight...temps hit 90 degrees this week!). I just can't imagine how much bigger I will get with laying around on bedrest. I thought I would also be able to up my activity level again since we made it to 36 weeks.

Anyway, sorry to ramble on, but I am hitting a rough patch right now. And I am trying not to be selfish...

i'm sorry for your frustrations and feel your pain!! my little girl is measuing about a lb and a half behind her sister. she is not gaining enough weight and they are going to go ahead and take them next wed @ 35 weeks. i'm very nervous about her size and pray she will be ok.. she was 3lb and 5 oz last week and her sister was 4lbs 13oz. they think the little one will do better on the outside! hopefully so...just worried and scared!! good luck and let me know how their weights turn out when they are delivered. i'm hoping they are off on the small ones weight!! the nsts have been great she is just wayyyyyy behind! good luck!

Sarah, I'm sorry about the bedrest. :hug99: I don't blame you for being frustrated but if you look at it from a positive stand point, at least it's now and not a few weeks ago. I'm sure your doctor is just looking out for you little one. :love0028:

I understand your frustration. You're right, the measurements can be off ~ and hopefully they are. Ours were, but they thought are two were a lil bigger than they actually were :(

Try and use this time to rest up ~ get some reading/tv watching done. Maybe fill out any thank you cards you might have, write a letter to your son/daughter letting them know what you're feeling knowing they'll be here any time...maybe your thoughts/wishes for them for the future.

As for the heat ~ I can't imagine being pregnant with the temps we had this weekend. I know a lot of women have hotter temps all the time....but here in WA ~ anything above 75 is warm to most :p

    Hang in there!!

    April :)
