35w1d twin boys are here

I have been in the hospital on modified bedrest since June 25th. Baby A has a rare condition called vasa previa which is life threatening if I dilate, break my water, or go into labor. We scheduled the c-section for Wed July 18th and everything went well.

Cooper Henry and Spencer Michael were born weighing in at 5.11 and 5.9 on July 18 and are in the NICU due to feeding issues. I'm going home tomorrow and hope to finish getting everything ready to bring the babies home in another week or 2. I couldn't shop prior to hospital bedrest because I had severe B/H every time I left the house and then when we learned about the vasa previa I was at home on bedrest followed by hospital bedrest. We didn't know we would be having preemies so we need to get some more stuff bought. I can't wait to hit the stores and to do some laundry.

Our boys are the result of IVF #6 and we have a 3 yr old DS from IVF #1. Our family is now complete and we are done with the IF rollercoaster. What a great feeling.

Please take a moment to google vasa previa and pass the word on about it to other pg women you know. If detected and delivered in time all VP babies would survive. Undetected the mortality rate is about 97-100%. We were very lucky our u/s tech and ob caught it in time.

Congratulations!! Thank God the doctors caught that condition in time!! Don't get too much in preemie clothes... my babies came home at 5lbs1oz and 5lbs 3 oz...they outgrew the preemie clothes in just a few weeks.. mostly length wise... and we aren't real tall people...this is a common phenomenon. Newborn or 0-3 month clothes will be fitting them in no time. hope your babies come home soon!

Congratulations on your boys!! What fun boys are!! I hope they are home with you soon, it shouldn't be much longer. Mine were born at 35 weeks 3 days, and they came right home with us.

Shopping is always fun! I would buy a few newborn things, but not too many... they outgrow them so fast!
