So i just got back from the docs and he said I was 2cm dialated and 80% effaced. He can definately feel the head and they are both vertex. Praise God!! They are at great weights 6lbs and 5.8lbs. Two boys. I was wondering how likely it was that i go within a week. I know with my singleton friends they have been at 2cm for a couple weeks even a month. Does having two babies and more weight speed things up or not? If anyone has feedback I'd greatly appreciate it! I'm so excited but scared! OMG! First time mom here...

I'm not sure it makes that much difference - I was 2-3 cm for 3 weeks before I delivered.

Good for you for making it almost to 36 weeks! It'll be soon, I'm sure.

Have fun once your babies are here - an remember, they do grow up so quickly, take lots of pictures.

Congrats on your soon to be arrival.
That is great they are both vertex. With twins that weight it will probably be real quick. I hope you have a safe and wonderful delivery.
    Is this your first babies?

I was 2 cm at 32 and 33 weeks, 3 cm at 34 and 35 weeks, 4 cm at 36 and 37 weeks, 4 1/2 cm when I was induced at 38w2d. I had a heavy child (9lbs+) and d&c before, so "early" dialation is not uncommon. They were also 15 1/2 lbs together, so that kind of explains as well ... lots of pressure down there!

    Good luck!

I was 3cm dilated for 5 weeks but I was taking terbutaline to stop labor so you never know...once I was told to head to the hospital I went home to get my bags and ran up and down my stairs 20 times to ensure they were coming that day:)
I was exactly 36 weeks and oh so ready to get them out!
Good luck-and be prepared for insanity when you bring them home. :)

I was 5 cm 85% effaced for 5 weeks- but neither baby was head down to give any further pressure! I had a friend with a singleton who was 1 cm and 80% effaced at 36 weeks- and was told any day now- she went into labor 3 days later and had her labor stopped- just to have her 5 days later- so you never know!! Good luck!

I was 2 cm for two weeks before I delivered (at 35 weeks 5 days). Congrats on making it so far...it's rough at the end. My DD had NICU time but that was because she inhaled fluid on her way out (she came home with us though). Both babies had mature lungs (and no steriod shots at all), so at least you know if you have the babies now they would have a good change of being absolutely fine.

I was 2cm dialated and 80% effaced at 35 weeks and ended up having to be induced at 38 weeks. I was only 3 cm dialated when I arrived at the hospital on delivery day.

Thanks cause that gives me a worse case scenario. I hope I don't need to be induced. You seem have been at exactly where i am now at 35 weeks. Except mine are heavier I think and I'm not sure if yours were vertex.

I was 3.5 cm dilated and 80% effaced at 35 weeks 5 days and they were both head down. I was induced exactly one week later at 36 weeks 5 days. The whole week inbetween my husband was convinced that baby A was going to fall out, so he made me sit on the couch a lot. It certainly wasn't as easy as one just falling out - I wish!! Just something to stash in the back of your mind. They thought both of our boys were either over 6 lbs or very close to it. Turns out that baby A was 4 lbs 13 oz and B was 5 lbs 3 oz when they were born. Both were healthy and came home from the hospital with me, but I was shocked when they told me how much they weighed! I thought I was having much bigger babies... Living proof that ultrasounds are just good guesses. Congrats to you for making it this far! Your babies will be great!!!

Ditto, but I made it to 2 cm at 33 weeks, I was taken off work but not put on bedrest.
