I went to my appointment this morning and was excited to see how much more weight I had gained. I was finally starting to gain weight a little better. I LOST 5 POUNDS!!! So that is a total weight gain now of 16 pounds.GRRRRRRRRRR. My uterus is measuring at 37...same as last time. Also they said I was dehydrated. I do have an ultrasound tomorrow, so we will see if the babies are growing. My non stress tests are good though, the babies are VERY active and their heart rates are good, my blood pressure is GREAT.
QUESTION IS..WHY AM I NOT GAINING WEIGHT???? I gained weight on partial bed rest, then I lost it. I am not being too active, just basic housecleaning and I work only a few hours a week, nothing labor intensive.

I had a similar experience. I did not lose weight, but did not gain towards the end. I was really worried. But as you can see from my siggy, the boys grew fine. My DH calls babies parasites while in utero. They get the important things before the mommy does. In my twin pregnancy, I gained 38 pounds total, and 2 weeks after birth had lost a total of 54 pounds... You may come out the same, having lost weight during your pregnancy, especially if you nurse. I hope your weights come up OK at your next scan. Try not to worry in the meantime. Keep hydrated. Hugs to you for making 35 weeks!!! :clapping: Congratulations! BTW, I LOVE the names!

At my 35 week appointment my doc told me I absolutely did not need to have the babies because they were too small. I, too, did not gain much weight the entire pregnancy. I really looked like I was only having a singleton. However, 6 days later I had them and they were a very nice size and no NICU time. I was full-time teaching the whole time, too. Just keep drinking as much water as you can and try to relax. Keep eating consistantly throughout the day and hopefully things will improve for you. My prayers are with you!

It's been highly recommended to drink ensure or boost high protein drinks, 3xs a day slowly. This will ensure that no matter what else you are eating, the babies are getting the extra protein and nutrients they need and your weight may even go up a little bit. You are so close to delivery. Are they ID or fraternal? Although it's common to think about the babies as parasites - taking what they need from you and taking it first before you get it all, it's actually something I've come across in other sites - that some dr's are saying that YOU get it all first and babies get what's left over. I think that's also brought out in dr. Barbara Luke's book on Twins, Triplets, and more. That's why it's important to gain the weight and eat very well, as well as supplement. HTH

I am sorry you lost weight! I was going to say to try drinking some Boost drinks and eating more protein.

I always start to slow down in weight gain the last 4 or 5 weeks of my pgs... with my twins I gained a total of 31lbs, and they were close to 12lbs total. Little parasites like one of the pp said. So long as your u/s results look okay I really wouldn't worry about it.

I had to drink three ensures a day for most of my pregnancy with my son, and that was 10 years ago. I carried him 42 weeks and gained 16 lbs. he weighed 8lbs 2oz. I had IUGR with him too...but obviously with lots of eating I gained.

I truly feel like they are parasites(really cute ones)I feel kinda skeletal.YUCK, besides the obvious basketball I appear to have swallowed.

I too hope my U/S comes out ok. My doctor wants me to keep them in quite a bit longer to grow. He thinks scheduling my c-section at almost 40 weeks is best if I make it that far.

I DEFINITLY need more water...shame on me!!!!

:hug99: I am sorry that you did not gain the weight you wanted. I know many people that did not gain much in twin pregnancy and their babies were just fine. :hug99: I am sure everything will be ok with your twinkies!

I don't gain weight whatever I do either. 4 boosts a day, 4000 calories a day nothing would change on that scale. Don't beat yourself up about it. Just make sure you are eating health stuff, and that is all you can do.

Do, however, drink lots of water. I am drinking around 150 fluid oz a day, and it really has helped me. I find it easiest to drink in the form of .5l bottles from costco.
