35 week appt.

Ok, I'm measuring big and the doctor really should stop talking. New doctor, nice guy but the first thing he says to me is "Aren't you glad you aren't having twins again?" Now granted, at this stage, yes, I don't know how I would be feeling if I was having twins again, but it was just the wrong thing to say. I don't know if he didn't know if this pregnancy started out as twins or what. (new clinic)

So, I am measuring big. He claims I'm measuring about 43cm... which is a huge jump from two weeks ago. So, like I said, he liked to talk. I am getting an ultrasound next week to see how big the baby actually is. I just get the impression that he is really pushing for a c-section because of the size of the baby. I understand. My mom has the same thoughts. I mean the twins were over 7 lbs at 38 weeks. I can't imagine how big this ONE will be IF I go into labor on my own. No real news from this appt. so far. I have the group B strep test today. I tested positive with the twins, so I wouldn't be suprised if I tested positive again. The baby has been active and I think (via movements) that he is still head down. I'll have weekly appts. from here on in. My blood pressure was very good (Something over 72). So, I'm still holding out for a VBAC, but obviously know I have to be somewhat flexible.

Oh, I have to add... I went grocery shopping after the appt. and I think I'm nesting a little bit. I bought A LOT! I'm just trying to be prepared for when it happens so that I don't have to shop again soon!

 

Sounds like an overall good appt. Not too much longer now!!!

It sounds like it was a pretty good appointment otherwise though. I can't believe how close you are to meeting your little guy. I can't wait to read your birth story and see pictures of him!

Jackie, I was wondering how far along you were. Wow 35 weeks already. Dang, it has gone fast. For me anyway. Sorry the dr was a jerk.

 

I'm sorry you got the insensitive comment from the dr. It sounds like he just didn't know the previous history of the pregnancy..I'm sure he wouldn't have said that if he did.

However, sounds like a good appt! I'm anxious to hear how big he is after your next u/s! I was watching baby story on TV yesterday and there was a lady who I thought was having at least twins or trips. NOPE, she was having a singleton...they had to do a c/s and he was 11 lb. 3 oz....OH MY GOSH!!!! That's just nuts!

Yikes, what a not so nice comment from the doctor. its just a rude thing to say and even worse since he didn't read your chart before hand. Be careful about the ultrasound, they are not very accurate this late in the game, my oldest was 7 lbs on u/s two days before I gave birth and was born at 9.9. They measure the babies at 8 and 9 lbs and they were 6 and 8. Its just really hard to get an accurate account of weight!
