Had a peri appointment today at 34 wks. 3 days. They were soooooo packed and backed up so we had everything out of normal order. NST was first and girls did fine on that. Then we saw the doctor and he said he thinks my "seeing spots" etc. sounds more like a low blood pressure issue here and there since everthing else seems fine. I haven't had any episodes the last couple of days. Then we had our ultrasound and the girls both passed their BPP, although Baby A didn't do much practice breathing in the right time frame, so she didn't do her "best." They were pretty active most of the morning and by the time we got to the ultrasound they decided it was rest time so I think that affected things. Supposedly the tech didn't think we needed to do measurements but we told her that the doctor marked that on our papers last time (to have them measured this time), so she ended up measuring them...although maybe not as well as usual. She came up with weights of 5 lbs. 11 oz. and 5 lbs. 14 oz. She said their measurments are usually right with +/- 10% error, so I guess they must be close. I'd say they are both at least 5.5 lbs., which is great!

Anyway, that's my update....hopefully not TOO much longer now! We'll have NSTs twice a week now with u/s and BPP once a week.

Oh Melissa, the fact this thread is titled 34 weeks made me smile and the update even more! Sorry to hear how delayed the office was but glad to hear everyone is doing well!

Congrats on a great appt. those weights sound fantastic! Given everything you have been through I am so happy to hear things are going so well and the peri seems a lot more thorough than the ob at home. I don't mean to crash your post with questions but my ob and peri are starting to look at setting a date for me due to BP issues and at my last peri appt a little over 2 weeks ago my boys were right around 4 lbs and I am starting to worry that they won't be big enough if I deliver them at the end of next week. Do you remember what the girls were at your 31-32 week appt. just wondering if they grew a lot between then and now?

Never apologize for asking questions. ;) My girls were last measured at 32 wks. 3 days and were estimated to be 4lbs. 9 oz. and 4 lbs. 10 oz. so supposedly they have both grown a little over a pound in two weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if your boys are both over 5 lbs. by now and I'm sure they would do well if you have to be delivered soon. :hug99:

Yeah for 34 weeks!!! You have been doing great!

I just hit that too - kinda exciting and scary all at the same time.

For Erika B: I had my last growth US at 32 and 5, they weight 4# 9 oz and 4# 15 oz at that time. I don't have another one scheduled for awhile.

    Erica.

Big enough for what? Kayla was 4 pounds 8 ounces at birth, spent no time at all in the NICU and came home with me. It really isn't about their weights as much as their gestation and general health.

BTW, I've read the phrase "practice breathing" before, but I don't know what that means? What is it and how do you "spot" it on u/s?

Hey Jen, I just now saw your question about the practice breathing. The babies start breathing in the amniotic fluid at a certain stage (usually after 24 weeks), and that's one thing they look for when doing a BPP. You can see their lungs moving in and out rhythmically...it's kind of hard to see sometimes though. Usually the tech points it out when she's seeing it. Hiccups are really easy to see, though. :D
