34 week OB apt and NST and a Question.

well, I had my 34week OB today and a NST. the NST was first, and it went well. babies heart rates look great fluid looks good too, and it turns out that baby B has flipped AGAIN! I'm almost sure he did it on Saturday cuz I was in a LOT of pain! anyway, at my last NST the Peri said that every time I come in that a Dr. should see me even if it's just to say hi. so after the NST the Peri came in to see how things had gone the past week. so I told him that I nearly passed out mopping the floor, and he said no more house work. I kinda figured that. I'll be good, really! oh, he also said to do NST's 2x/week now. *sigh* I've never seen so many Dr.'s so often. oh well I'm almost done.

then I had my OB apointment shortly after that. B-4 my apt though the Peri called my OB to tattle! lol! also to tell him what he thinks as far as schedueling the C-section. so when I saw my OB he came in the room, and told me I'd just been tattled on, and that I'm excused from all house work until after the delivery, and to get DH to do everything (which he pretty much already has been). then he measured (I didn't get the measurement though because we were talking and I forgot to ask) and listened to the heartbeats. then he said the Peri reccomends schedueling the C-section for 36 weeks! that shocked me! that's only 10 days away!. but he wasn't sure if the Peri wanted to do an amniocentesis to determine if the lungs are mature yet or if he meant to just do the section w/o an amnio. so my OB was waiting to hear back from the Peri when I left. so nothing has been schedueld yet, but I'm sure it will be all finalized by my next apt. in a week.

so my question is this. how long does it take to get results back from and amnio? I've never had one b-4.

ok 2 questions. I'll be 36 weeks a week from Saturday. has anyone ever heard of schedueling a section on a Saturday? do you think it depends on the Dr, or the Hospital or both? I'd be fine with the 31st (a wednesday) which is 36w 4d. this is at least a week earlier than I was expecting.

I'm gettin' nervous, and excited. and I'm nowhere near ready! I also have mixed feelings. I really would like to get this pregnancy over with asap, and end the missery, but I also know there's a chance of NICU time, and that they may not come home with me. so I'm all excited to meet them, and be done with this pregnancy. I'm even prepared for a little NICU time. but I don't want it to last any longer than my hospital stay. so basically I'm fine with NICU so long as they come home with me. but I also know that this is the safest time for all of us to do it. oh well, either way I'll be meeting these boys in 2 weeks or less! holy cow!

I don't know if my hospital schedules c-sections on Saturdays. I don't think they do, so maybe they would set you up for sometime the following week.

They checked me at around 37 weeks with an u/s to see if the babies lungs were mature (if they weren't sure, they would have done an amnio). They said everything was all set and I was scheduled for 38 weeks. I ended up having the babies before my scheduled date.

Hopefully, the babies will be big enough and their lungs mature enough that they won't need NICU time. Keep us updated!!

I think alot of it depends on the lab and the Dr. on how fast they results come back. I've heard of some peoples being back the next day and others taking several days.

 

My c-section is scheduled for the 31st, that's a wednesday. I've got an amnio scheduled for that monday. Then on tuesday afternoon, I go in for pre-op. I'm expecting they'll have the results then.

Oh, and I'll be 36wks 3days on c-section day(give or take a day, depending on which doctor you ask). And I'm getting NSTs and BPPs twice a week now too!

Looks like we could be meeting our babies on the same day!

I'm sure it varies by Dr. but here's how it works at mine. I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow(Friday). I'm having an amnio done on Monday to check for lung maturity. We will have the "mature" or "immature" results back within 2-4 hours which is fine because I have to stay at the hospital up to 5 hrs to be monitored anyway. My c/s is scheduled for Wed. at 7:30AM pending the "mature" result.
So, since I'm 36 weeks on a Friday, I have to wait for Mon. for the amnio since they don't do them on weekends. By the time we do the c/s I will be 36w5d.
My OB said if the first results come back anything other than mature that there is a 2nd part to the results that won't be back until Tuesday morning.
