Hey ladies, just found out the girls will be here in 2 weeks. Wasn't expecting this and am a little worried. any words of encouragement or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

baby a, Riley is lagging behind on her growth. She is 3 lbs 5 oz and her sister, Sarah Kate, is a good bit larger at 4lbs 14 oz. They aren't extremely concerned about it, except for the fact that Riley is 18 days behind her sister and her abdomen is 26 days behind. He thinks her placenta may be under some stress due to space constraints. everthing is functioning properly though and their "practice breathing" looked good. He thinks it would be best to go ahead and deliver them in the next two weeks. the specialist went ahead and scheduled a c-section for 2 weeks from now. I'll be 35 weeks at that point. In the meantime, I'll be going in twice a week starting Friday for NSTs to make sure Riley isn't under any stress. Currently, she is not. She is very active, just "skinny" according to the specialist. If she at any point becomes distressed before 35 weeks they will go ahead and take them then. please let me know your thoughts. pray for little riley!!

I had both of my girls by c-section at 35 weeks and 6 days. They told me that both girls would be extrememly small (under 4 lbs) and to be prepared for NICU time. However, we had no complications whatsoever, no NICU time, and the girls weighed over 5 lbs a piece. The worst trouble we had was having to keep hats on them to regulate their body temps. The girls went home with me and have been very, very healthy.

I had my girls at 34 weeks 2 days due to an expected 30% size difference and the start of pre-eclampsia. My girls were born weighing 3 lbs 11 oz and 4 lbs 9 oz (although they thought my bigger girl was over 5 pounds at every ultrasound). Baby A was my smaller girl and they found out after I delivered that her umbilical cord had attached to the edge of the placenta not the middle like it should have. As a result, she got fewer nutrients than her sister and grew slower. She spent four weeks in the hospital, but there was no medical intervention necessary, just growing and learning to eat. My girls are now 14 months old and weigh 20.5 and 21.5 pounds and are totally on track with their age group peers.

Good luck to you and your impending delivery. Don't stress, just rest and relax for the next two weeks.

I had my boys at 35 weeks + 2 and they were six lbs each.

My Peri delivers ID's at 35 weeks at the latest so we went ahead. We did do an amnio the day before to make sure lungs were mature.

Born totally 100% healthy breathing on own etc needed no intervention.

They had to be in NICU for 5 days to keep body temp up and take a whole feeding by bottle.

Now at 8 mos adjusted (9 actual TODAY), they are 23 lbs!!

Good luck. Girls always do better when born early too. I would be drinking a few Boost shakes per day from now until delivery just to beef them up a little :) And lay on your left side as often as possible to increase blood flow to them.

    How exciting!!

My boys were delivered at 35w1d. I had the steroids for their lungs at 34 weeks. They had no breathing issues, but were in NICU for 11 days each to regulate body temp and to learn how to eat.

If they require NICU time, the team will probably tell you to expect them to be there until close to your due date, but very often they go home before then. But it is better to look long term and then be surprised when things move along faster than expected.
