I went for my appt and NST. I was contracting every 2-3 minutes. OB sent me to hospital for FFN test, cervix check & shot of steriods for babies lungs. Nurse messed up and checked my cervix before getting the FFN test, so that was a big no no and didn't get the test. I was dilated a fingertip and last week it was high/thick/closed. They gave me shot of breathin which greatly slowed the contractions down. I was allowed to go home to bed. They wanted to give me another shot, but my heart rate was over 120. I go back to the hospital in the morning for my 2nd shot of steriods, another NST and most important the FFN test! Guess I don't need to worry about any threats of Pre-E (fyi-never had before) considering my blood pressure was a whopping 90/50 I was like am I ok. lol

    UPDATE...

3/19/10 31.4 Weeks: I was still contracting this morning, but have not dilated anymore. They gave me the 2nd (final) steroid shot, but still unable to perform the FFN (Not over 24hrs since my last check). My blood pressure is SO LOW last night it was 90/52 heart rate 120's and this morning it was 82/40 heart rate 148. She found the cause for all the above, after a urine check, and said I am severely dehydrated. I was given two options stay get an IV, wait for my heart rate to come down in order to get shot of Terbutaline to stop the contractions OR go home, get feet up, drink tons of water and take 1/2 of one Terbutaline Pills I have. I chose to leave. I am to return if I continue contractions after water and Terbutaline.

Hang in there, Haydie. I had almost the same thing happen last week (see my post in This Weeks Appointments - March 8-12). I was able to get the FFN, which came back negative. I also got the terbutaline shot, but it did nothing for me. I am now on modified bed rest with strict instructions to hydrate and eliminate frequently (apparently, a full bladder can irritate your uterus). That has seemed to stop my contractions completely.

Like you, I was dilated 1 cm with what the nurse described as a soft cervix BUT the key factor to my OBGYN seemed to be that my cervix was still long. So, try not to worry about your cervical issues yet. If they're anything like mine, it sounds worse than it actually is.

Good luck with the blood pressure, though. That seems like a more serious issue that I have no relevant experience with.

I have always had normal blood pressure. To hear it was 82/40 and heart rate 148 even the nurse was surprised and said this has to be a mistake. She went got new cuffs and cables. The best reading I got before I left was like 90/48 heart rate about 120. It does make sense though because lately I get dizzy easy and just feel very off.
