I really did not think that it would be that hard to pick some names!!! But I am finding that DH had not been all that helpful with this up to this point :(

For the longest time, I thought that he liked the name Brianne, I mentioned that name for 4 years!! ( after DH father...he has cancer and is still doing well, but i thought that it would be nice. DH never said anything up till we were pregnant...now he is not to fond of the name. We also thought that if we had a girl that the middle names would be Gina (after his grandma) Maureen (after my grandma). Well now hw thought that just Gina Maureen would be good...I vetoed this right away (DH grandma passed away a few years ago, and his mom still is having a hard time with this, could not even imagine what would happen if we chose this name)

I finally told DH that i really think that our children should have their own first names...their own identity. I also told him that i though it would be nice if both of our fathers names were incorporated if possible ( my father passed away several years ago)

As for boys names, I like nicholas... abd he has suggested the name Joshua...which i admit is starting to grow on me.

Last week i suggested that we come up with some names and he is so laid back and states that we have LOTS of time!!! I feel that we so not have that much time :(

He finally has started a list and so far i dont really like any of them...I prefer more traditional names and he apparently likes "unique" names. Some examples are Leith and Gage. There is nothing wrong with these names....for someone else but personally i do not like them!

He has not suggested any girls names at all :( One day I sat there for over 1 hour and suggested names and he said a couple were OK.

Is anyone else having problems coming up with names...I really did not think that it would be this hard :(

I can TOTALLY relate..i will be 30 weeks on sat and we dont have any names either..dh has 2 names on his list, yes 2 and they are both AWEFUL..ugh...

I really have no desire to even look for names. I get so frustrated looking in books and on sites cause its the same names over and over..I want something uncommon..

    UGH...

I hope your able to find some names...

Im starting to get ansy also, cause we really dont know how long we will be pg..ya know? it could be 8 weeks or it could be MUCH less...

i am going through the exact same thing! i am also 30 weeks. we're having two boys. we had a 4 yo dd and her name is marcella. so we want something to 'go with' that. i have a short list of names, and have asked dh to come up with a list of 10, because he doesn't like ANY that i suggest. it's getting frustrating.

here is my plan. i am going to pick two names that i love and if we're in the hospital without names, either he's going to have to rise to the occasion and come up with a list then, or go with mine. it's not ideal, but it's helping me not stress about it.

Ugh, I feel your pain.... I personally have had names picked forever....since before we knew what we were having... But my best friend had the name McKayla picked out her whole pregnancy, people even bought her things that said McKayla on them! And in the hospital, she looked at her and said, no shes a Hailey. So thats what she named her. I would get a list together and you will know their names when you see them. Hope this helps.... :D

PS I like the name Joshua, its my big bro's name and my mom still calls him "Joshie-poo" lol

    Hi Christine,
Choosing names was pretty hard. Have you ever peeked in on the name forum here. It took me awhile to find it. But lots of suggestions are there. It may be worth it to look. However, I bought those name books with thousands of suggestions and that did not help me!

Oh, and I would push for the name Nicholas. It is a GREAT name! (ha, ha, ha)

Yes! I am close to 27 weeks and we have not decided on names! Part of the problem for me is that DH is the most stubborn person on the planet (other than me) and he is stuck on one name and won't let it go! The name he likes is not my favorite, and it doesn't sound good with any of the names that I like. Every time I think I've talked him out of it he'll say something like "Well what if when they are born I just think one looks like her name should be Adelie?" So that makes me think I should let him name one Adelie because he obviously really loves that name. But I'm just as stubborn and I want them to be named something else! So I say "Well what if they are born I think they look like Sarah and Sydney?" He vetoed those names.

So we are undecided and are going to wait and decide once they are born.

I'm only almost 17 weeks, but boy do I feel your pain. Everytime I bring up the subject my husband gets really nervous and changes the subject. He refuses to commit to any "favorites" until we find out the genders. He is so weird about it too!!! I am so scared we won't have names for these babies!!!

But, there is a precedent for his behavior: It took us 2 months to name our dog--and we were still discussing it in the car on the way to Chicago to pick him up!!!

Me and my DH are the type that like to take our time making our minds up and making huge decisions. I thought choosing a name was going to be a battle we had until delivery day. For him, I just went online and typed in twin names and wrote down 10 sets of b/g twin names and to my shock he picked Nathan and Natalie the first time I showed him my list and we have stuck with it. Maybe you should try that. Good luck.

With my DD we had a name picked out until 2 days before i delivered. Once you see you babies you will know what to name them. If you have a list of names, you will just know!

I'm so with you!! My dh is pretty much the same..except that he likes traditional and I like unique.... If you look at my kids' names I think you'll see who won out. LOL!! My dh considers himself the veto man when it comes to the babyname thing.... in other words... I do all the work...come up with the lists, agonize over possibilities..and he just says, "no, no, no, um, okay, no, no, no"... LOL... very frustrating. This time around was really hard. We have a much harder time with girls' names than boys for some reason. I finally went through my babyname book one day, and just forced myself to try to choose at least one name from every letter of the alphabet that I thought I might at least grow to like. I admit, I couldn't come up with some for certain letters, like Q...but then I took that list, went to dh with it...he ruled some off the list.... I circled ones that appealed to him...and made a shorter list... from there we kind of narrowed it down.... But it still took us the longest time to actually finalize. For weeks we struggled between Serena Luisa, Julia Luisa, and Julia Serena.... Then we finally came up with Julianna...lol...I don't know why but it wasn't on my original list! I did find the baby name thread here to be helpful...and there are some good websites if your babyname book doesn't have enough options... I'd start making a list..try to put any name on it that even seems like it might have potential...my mistake is always looking for a name that just hits me..and most of the time that doesn't happen for me...the name kind of has to grow on me after days or weeks of looking at it, writing it, thinking about it...

DH named our first daughter, I named our second daughter..and I basically picked out the names for our twins girls coming in December..lol. (He's a little frustrated with girls names at this point)If there's something you really like, keep pushing for it!

We did not have names even until after they were born... DH and I for some reason could only joke about names. We had Helmut and Igor, Larry and Mo (DS #1 was Curly), all the obvious jokes. But no real possibilities. My water broke unexpectedly at 35.2. The NAME POLICE were all over me at the hospital! They said there were laws about having them named before discharge!!! They really freaked me out and came to my room to ask several times per day even though I was having a tough recovery. I swear every waking moment was spent with my nose in the name books... So I picked Zach's name. DH picked Josh's. And those "police" were standing there while I was on the phone with DH giving me the evil eye! Can you believe it?? Anyways, I think we were the worst case scenario for ourselves and for those meanie name police. Good luck!!!

When the time is right the names will come to you. We didn't name the girls till the 3rd day after they were born.
