Well, I have to say that I think they were OFF on the heights. Pretty funny. Martin is VISIBLY 1 inch taller than Ali, so this is all a little sketchy!!

    Martin Weight: 29 lbs. (25%)
Height: 36" (37!) (15-20%) (I know that I shouldn't worry about the minor stuff, but I'm tall and want TALL KIDS! Selfish and weird, I'm sure!)

    Alison Weight: 27 lbs. (10%)
Height: 36" (she really didn't want to stand on that scale!) (30%)

They did an eye test - that was kinda fun once she decided to do it!! They are doing really well and she counseled me on some Potty Training Strategies and how to deal with Ali's little nervous behaviors!

I wanted to share something with you that we got in our information - since everyone worries about how much and total nutrition for our kids.
    QUOTE

By this age, many children will have formed a preferential list of foods. A wide variety of foods is NOT important to your child's good nutrition. A single day's food selection is not always a good index of your child's nutrition either. It is better to look at a 4-to 5-day time frame to see if you are achieving a reasonable balance of food groups. Appetites are still generally not strong. If your child is a picky eater, continue with a daily multivitamin (a chewable is now acceptable). Check the vitamin label for dosage. Unless we state otherwise, select a vitamin without iron.

If your child meets the following five criteria, you can be assured of adequate nutritional intake:

    - There has been no significant drop in your child's growth percentiles for height and weight over the past year

    - Your child is generally healthy.

    - You supplement your child's diet with a daily multi-vitamin.

    - Your child eats one good meal per day, even if it means that you combine all the day's intake make up one good meal.

    - Your child's calcium intake is adequate, either through sufficient dairy intake, e.g., 8-10 oz. of milk plus one additional dairy, or two to three separate dairy product servings, or adequate calcium supplementation.

I really love and respect my pediatrician and office. I hope that this information might help someone see how we tend to get a little overworked about stuff and it's a little simpler than we might think!!! :hug99:

Thanks for letting me share!! I attached a couple pics of them from our 3 yr. portraits!!

What is up with your ticker?! Denial, perhaps?

Sounds like a great appointment and such precious photos! And yes, we've had some inaccurate height measurements also so I wouldn't put too much stock in it (according to his chart, Trent shrunk once).

LOL Samething happened to me yesterday at pedi appts! Alyssa is obviously at least an inch taller. When she measured them they were exactally the same!!?? So.... I asked her to redo it, and she DID! LOL Alyssa is one and one half inches taller!! Seriously do they get in a hurry and just "ditto" everything sometimes? But all in all we LOVE our nurse and our pedi to death! Great appts and great pics!

Great appointment, Di! (I think they are off on Martin's height, too....Nolan measured 37 1/4 " and I think Martin is at least as tall as him).

Thanks for sharing that info....now, I need to share that with my husband so he doesn't stress so much at dinner time.

Love their pictures. They are such little cuties!!

What cute *kids*!!!! Great appointment too!!!

If you don't mind, I might PM you about Ali's nervous behaviors. Even at only 1 we are dealing with this with Ana, and Dh and I are starting to get a little worried.

I can share some of it here, but can't remember verbatim what she told us. He habits are playing with her spit (Becky444 calls it lizard-like - SO TRUE!) she will play with it in her fingers - and sucks it in and out (hence the lizard reference) and she bites her fingernails (no one in our family does that, so it's not really a learned thing!) and her TOENAILS!! YUP!! It's great. She does NOT twirl her hair, but that's another that the doc says is common.

She told us to compliment her when we can see her mouth without the spit and w/o her hand there. Don't allow her cuddles and hugs and lap time when she's doing it. She also recommended rescue remedy (homeopathic) in her water to help ease some of her tension that leads to her habits and shy behavior. (Rec'd for playgroup etc....) That's the Readers Digest version!! Let me know if I can help further! (Not that this was helpful at ALL!)

NO SHOTS!!! WOO HOO!!! They stand on the big scale and get measured on the big doctor scale and they do an eye test with little pictures (handprint, cake, horse, bird etc.) and it was hard for them to let me cover one eye, but we managed to get it all done! It's a good visit!!!

OH, my Doc had moved since our last visit (sick) and they are in a new building etc. and the kids thought they were at a NEW DOCTOR and VERY VERY VERY concerned that the FISH WEREN'T there. They wouldn't let it go! It was pretty funny!!

Thanks Diane! It was helpful!!! Sometimes Ana gets so obsessive about certain things and freaks out if something is out of order. While Meara is definitely more 'spirited' (see my other thread about this that I posted this morning), I worry more about Ana because its like she gets stuck on certain behaviors. Granted DH and I are psychologists so maybe we are reading too much into it, but I worry about her having trouble as she gets older. So thank you for your 3 year old experience and tips! -Leighann
