so far i feed my boys 6.5 oz, 5 times a day with 2 solid meals.
    their schedule looks like this:

    8 - 6.5 oz bottle and cereal/fruit
    11 - 6 - 6.5 oz bottle
    2 - 6.5 oz bottle
5 - 6.5 oz bottle and veggie or meat
    8 - 6 oz bottle

he said to do a fruit/cereal for breakfast and dinner and a meat and veggie for lunch.
    how do i do this?

I'd add it in between the 11 am bottle and the 2 pm bottle.

We did the lunch at 11am and then a bottle right after - they started cutting that one out after a while until they gave up that milk feed altogether. Our pedi was happy with them reducing their bottles at that point, so eventually, we just offered water with the meal and pushed it back a bit more (till about 11.30).

I have no idea what our schedule was at that age, but I just wanted to stick my nose in and point out that you don't have to do it just because the ped says so. We didn't start a 3rd meal until at least 9 months (we didn't start solids at all until 6 months) and it was perfectly fine. They don't need the nutrition from solids at this age, it's just for practice and to get them used to different flavors. As long as you're giving them a variety, it's fine if it's only twice a day rather than 3 times.

That's a perfect illustration of "the ped doesn't always know best." A lot of them -- including ours, who seems to be a very smart, fairly young guy -- still give this advice based on handouts they've been using for years and apparently never read.

There is also a difference between "you can start juice" and "you should start juice." He probably gets asked a lot "When can I start juice?" and if you are determined to do it, you could do it around this age. But you don't have to, and as you said, it's actually better not to.

You do not need to start juice, unless perhaps there is a constipation issue. Mine are 12 months and are not on juice (although they did have it when they were younger for constipation). There is no reason to do 3 meals if you don't want to. It is a lot of hassle and clean-up. At that age we were still doing 2 means. Eventually (maybe at 8 months) we did a small snack, like a cracker. At about 10 months we started 3 meals a day. In some ways I wish we waited longer. If we were out I always felt like we needed to get home for a meal. It's up to you, not your Pedi.
