The past 2 days since my girls have turned 3 months they keep waking up an hour after I put them to bed, they aren't hungry they don't have to burp. DD 1 will go back to sleep but DD 2 will fuss and fuss and there is nothing wrong, not even a dirty diaper. After another hour to 2 hours I'm finally able to put her back down. Only for her to get back up an hour later again. I sleep with her then and hold the pacifier in her mouth just so I can get a little sleep. What do you think this is, could it be a growth spurt, could it be teething? Is it to young for CIO? Then about 2:00am my other DD will wake up again and I switch them around and sleep with the other one since the one I was sleeping with is finally sleeping good. This is getting exhausting. I have tried everything. Before they would last eat at 8:30pm and not wake again until between 4-5am.

My peds sent home reading info for me that contained some things in it that helped me cope with the up's and down's. One thing it said was that crying tended to peak anywhere around 6 to 12 weeks. And then it talked about sleep. The first thing that gets straightened is night sleep, then they organize day sleep which may throw night sleeping off a while. The info gave hints about how to "catch the sleep wave" and encourage good, longer napping periods by watching the clock. . . after the babies wake from a nap (even a short one), time to start a soothing process about an hour after babies have been awake. After soothing, try putting them down drowsy. Let them fuss a little (but I wouldn't let them bawl). Just keep trying this process over and over. Sometimes it might be an hour and half or two hours, but just keep trying it.

It took weeks of doing this, but the process helped them along in getting some patterns down. My guys were born 6 weeks early, and they are just about finishing getting their naps down pat (mid day nap is still wonky). And they are napping longer each nap. It just takes time, I think. Hang in there as best you can and give yoursellf some breaks. The lack of predictability is hard for us big people, I know!

You got some great advice from Emily. I would also add that it could be a growth spurt that they are going through. I don't know much about CIO but I thought I recalled reading on here that the earliest that should start is 6 months. Do you have anyone helping you at night right now? Maybe you could do shifts at night, so you can get a solid block of sleep.
I also recommend a book by Ann Douglas- Sleeping Solutions for Your Baby, Toddler and Preschooler. It helped us out a lot. She explains all the sleeping methods but does advocate for any of them and explains sleep problems and solutions in a down to earth matter.
Good luck and hang in there!

They are probably too young for CIO, but you're definitely not alone with the sleep trouble. My guys actually got worse at 3 and 4 months. I was putting them to bed earlier, which meant they had more chances to wake up during the night, but they also started waking for non-hunger related issues.

I had some trouble getting Mark back to sleep, and when all else failed I put him in the car seat in his crib, and rocked him to sleep.

Are you still swaddling? They start to break out of it at that age, which could be another reason why they are having sleep issues.

I'm going through this too...just trying to be patient and get all of the information I can from TS! It is frustrating though...don't you just panic when the other one starts to wake up???

I'm having this same issue. DS has started to sttn but DD wants none of it. She is up every 2 hours.
    7:30 bed then it's 11-1-3-5
    Period. No break.

It could be any number of things or a combination! :shok: Mine would always break their horrible sleeping routine just before they got sick. I hope that isn't the case for you. I hope it gets better soon!
