I failed my 1 hr glucose test by more than a few points and have my three hour test scheduled for Tuesday. I am a little freaked out that I will fail that too. I'm not sure what I'll do if they take away my bread, pasta and carbs. I was a regular runner before this twin pregnancy (was so tired in the beginning and too big later on) but I still love my carbs! My girlfriend was on the gestational diabetes diet during her last pregnancy and said that she lost 10 lbs. - yikes!

Not wanting to complain as so far this pregnancy has been a crazy and wonderful experience, but, I was just wondering if lots of folks failed the 1 hr. but passed the 3 hr. Thanks!

I failed the 1 hr (don't know by how much) but passed the 3hr no problem
remember to bring you water bottle w/ you for during and a snack for after the test.

Well Ive failed ALL of my 1 hr GTT..lol I always do..Ive only failed 2 of the 3 hrs out of 5 pg. I dont think I have to take it this time since I was on insulin last pg and have to check sugars now. They are watching my sugars already.

GL I hope you pass your 3hr, but its not the end of the world if you don't. Most of the time it can be controlled with diet alone, in my case that worked for my first GD pg. But it wasnt working toward the end of my last pg and was on insulin shots, they weren't fun, but i did what i had to do to keep my baby safe..

The same thing happened to me. I guess it is pretty common to fail the 1 hour with twins. I wouldn't worry too much, I have seen a lot of women, me being one of them who failed the one hour and passed the 3 hour. Good Luck I'm sure you will do just fine.

I failed my 1 hour with my daughter and never made it to the 3 hour.

I didn't take the 1 hour at all with my son, went right to the 3 hour which I failed. I went on the GD diet (not totally cutting out carbs, you limit them, not cut them completely) I lost 10 lbs in the first 3 weeks and slowly gained that 10 lbs back and never gained anymore. You do have to monitor your blood sugars 4 times a day, but it's not too bad, you get use to it.

So far my sugars have been fine with this pregnancy, my peri hasn't said anything about taking the test anytime soon.

I had been told that many people fail their 1 hr if they are carrying twins. So I went in fully expecting it. I was lucky and passed but my girlfriend had to take the 3 hr. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! GL!!

I was one of those who failed the 1-hour miserably (191--200 is automatically diabetic) and passed all 4 of my 3-hour GTT. Bring lots of water and books/magazines to read since it can get really boring. Bring something to eat after the test since you'd definitely be famished. It's best to bring a high protein, low sugar snack (like hard-boiled eggs) since the fasting can make your sugar levels spike upwards more if you eat something sugary.

    Good luck!
