Help! This issue is driving me crazy. I thought we were over this stage, but it seems like it is back again with a vengeance. Everything goes in the mouth...both girls! They are putting tub toys, puzzle pieces, you name it in their mouths. I'm really losing my patience. I tell them no, big girls don't eat toys, stop that, etc... but then as soon as I turn my back. Ughh! Anyone have any thoughts? I'm out of ideas...

    Thanks,

I've never had a child that puts things in their mouth a lot until Kyle! UGH!! HE puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. It drives me insane!!! I can't tell you the gross things that have gone in that child's mouth! It's enough to make you sick!!! I have no ideas, just sympathy

Are they cutting their 2-year molars? We have had it come back with teething and I actually dragged out a few old teething toys for them to gnaw.

I have no idea either, just more sympathy. My girls are 3 and 1/2 and they still do, especially Bianca, but Gabby does too. I spend all weekend saying "Get that out of your mouth!!!!!!"

I've tried telling them it's gross. It will give them a stomach ache (when they do have a belly ache I tell them it's because you put X in your mouth). That princesses don't do that. Etc Etc and nothing seems to deter them.

I was wondering when they would usually stop but I figured it has to be a MUST have 20 teeths in before they could stop chewing, putting things in their mouth and etc? Yike! My twins are usually good and do not chew on their books but lately my son had gotten into it.

This is a good post for everyone.

Yes, still doing it here too. It's more Ainsley than Bea. She likes to suck on things. She put my laptop power cord in her mouth today!!!

Marcus is always putting things in his mouth. If it makes you feel better, my friend was so happy her son never put anything in his mouth, until the OT told her that it is BAD when they DON'T put things in their mouths!

my boys have pica. I wish they were only putting toys in their mouths. Instead, it's lint, fur, hair, and all other gross fuzzies. The pediatrician told me there was nothing I could really do about it at this point. It's so gross though.

I think it's teething with my DS. He always likes to chew on things, but we had a nice break after his teeth were in. Now, after a few month break, it's back with a vengeance. The difference is that he is really using his index finger more and jamming it all the way in the back left side of his mouth. I think it's teething - he's 23 months old.
