Hi My boys turned 1 on the 8th of Jan. I cant believe how the time has flown by. Now...How do I take away their bottles!!!
:welcome: Dawn and :birthday: to Peter and Ryan! I pretty much went cold turkey into sippy cups and gradually transitioned those cups from formula to cow's milk. I started out with 75% formula/25% milk, and over the course of a couple weeks went to all milk. My guys didn't really understand how to use the sippies (they never held bottles) so I would have to tip them back so they boys could drink out of them. It took less than a week for them to "get" it. The last bottle to go (for Jack; I nursed Nate past 1 year) was the bedtime bottle. I kept that up for a couple weeks, then switched to warmed milk in a sippy that they drink during story time. Best of luck to you with the transition!
:welcome: to the SY! congrats on your graduation! :birthday: Ryan! :birthday: Peter! unfortunately, i don't have any advice for transitioning from bottles, but hopefully some of the other ladies will be able to help you out.
 Welcome to the Second Year!! As for bottles, my biggest piece of advice is that you make sure YOU are ready to do it and stick with it. :good: I did it cold turkey, just took them away. They didn't drink much milk for a few days but eventually realized they aren't getting bottles back and drank out of their sippy cups. :good: Good luck!!
:welcome: to the SY! I agree with Liz, when you do decide to take the bottles away, make sure you are ready to do it. We took the bottles away at 15 months and I can remember my DH and Mom were like "not a good idea" and my Dad was like "you are selling the kids short!". They were on three bottles at that point so I took away the bottle that they would miss the least first (afternoon one) one week, the next week was the breakfast bottle and the third week was the bedtime one. They did drink less milk during the week they lost that bottle but they did well with the transition over all and their milk intake did increase. Good luck!
