    what do you ladies think.

as some may know i had my level 2 and i had some soft markers for downs. (fluid in the kidney's and the baby's head is a little larger than it's 'suppose' to be.) my doctor that got me pregnant with IVF sent me to someone that he suggested was good for multiples. i am not currently going to my regular OB/GYN.

If i called the new OB/GYN today and requested my file to send to my origninal doc, do you think he would be suspicious? I was going to say that my doc just wants to keep an updated file on me for after i give birth.

in reality, i want to have MY doc give me a 2nd opinion on whether or not i really need to go forward with the amnio.

i hope this mess makes sense!
    :)

I think that's a great idea. Doctors are used to having people get 2nd opinions so I don't think it would be a big deal. You are just doing everything you can to keep your babies safe and healthy.

I don't think there is anything wrong with getting a second opinion. I am surprised that they didn't schedule a follow up ultrasound already. However, I would probably be expecting to pay for anything additional beyond what is normal.

they dont do sono's in the office. the hospital doctor (who was like the grimm reaper!) wanted me back in 2 weeks (which would be next week) for another sono. my doc said this friday he would do the amnio. i'm just trying anything not to get the amnio but i need serious peace of mind.

I think that is a brilliant idea. :good: With a procedure like this, and since you are so stuck with the decision, I think this is a great move. Good luck.

Even if all doctors agree that the markers are indicative of DS, you still don't have to have the amnio. The decision is 100% yours. Any procedures you go through put the other baby at risk. My question to my doctor about getting an amnio (AMA) was if my care of the babies care would be any different if one or both had DS and he said no so we declined an amnio. Knowing the results helps parents prepare sooner before birth and may put your mind at ease but at the end of the day, don't feel pressured to have the amnio unless you really want to get it done.

Good luck and please keep us posted! Big HUGS
