The girls have tried all of the 1st baby foods in the last month and a half and I'm wondering when I switch them to 2nd foods. The pedi said when they are finishing a whole jar, but is that a jar per baby? And what about the consistency, isn't it less pureed? TIA for any responses. :)

Cindy, the 2nd foods are almost identical in consistancy to the first foods. With the 2nd foods, you start getting into combos, so just make sure you are still just adding one new food every 3 days. I would go ahead and move to the 2nd foods if you have gone through all of the 1st!

I switched a few weeks back...the only thing I buy as 1st food is peas as they are really thick anyway. They love them all...try the comb veggies before you try the meat & veggie jars....I found it took a while for my two to like those. You could also try making their cereal a little thicker. Good luck! It's neat to see what they like and don't like.

Also, at 7 months, you can try cheese and yogurt. We started yogurt the other day...just plain and they love it! I mixed it with some baby fruit for a different taste too.

Stage 2's are the same texture as Stage 1's. The only difference is the jar size.

I would switch when they eat a whole jar and act like they want more.

Any kind of cheese - we're rather fond of sharp cheddar around here.

My ped. suggested Stage 1 at month 6, Stage 2 at month 7, and Stage 3 and some table foods at month 8. I followed this pretty much and now mine are almost on all table foods. YIPPIE!

  9. I just came on to post the exact same question! My DH and I are in debates about this. Our girls have been through all of the 1st foods for about 2 weeks now. Thanks for the advice!

Yep! They make cheese crumbles, they come in a bag similar to the shredded cheese, which would probably be the best thing to start with really.
