I have twin grandchildren who will be 2 years old in October. It is a boy and girl. My DIL is trying to come up with a cute birthday theme for them - something appropriate for a boy and girl. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks bunches for your help!

Do they watch tv or read any stories with characters in it that they really like?
Some ideas you could do is Jo Jo's circus (clown theme), Sesame (Elmo & Zoe), Cowboy and cowgirl, bugs (lady bugs and caterpillars), any animals (dogs, cats, or even bears or lions) or Dora and Diego. You could also do two different themes one for each of them if they are each into something different.

You can even look at Birthday Express for some ideas.

Becky's ideas are great. Just to give some other ideas, you could do a Fall themed party or if it is close to Halloween you could do a costume birthday party. Kids seem to love any opportunity they have to wear those costumes :D I know these are some "non-traditional ideas" but I was just thinking off the top of my head. For my girls birthday next year I have already decided to do a Spring theme party since their birthday starts only a few weeks after the start of spring and decorations would be so easy to do/make. GL in whatever you decide to do!

I have a friend with b/g twins who turn 2 in 3 weeks...they are doing Dora/Diego. My girls are turning 2 and we are doing Elmo....that's pretty unisex. How about prince/princess theme? If I think of anymore, I'll let you know!

I made balloon cakes for Zach and Hannah's birthdays last month. They were really cute and since they boht LOVE balloons they loved the cakes.

I too considered Dora and Diego, princess/prince, Elmo and Zoe. My kids also both really like cars, so I considered making two car cakes one sporty and the other more girly. I might do that next year.

Oh superheros?? Wonderwoman, and Spiderman...or batman...etc. You can also just do primary colors and get a clown, etc...reds, blues, deep purples, etc. Get a cake for each of them...one purple, one blue...

My B/G twins turn 2 next weekend, so I've been looking into this too.
Family Fun magazines website & ,Wondertime mag website have LOTS of Super Good party & cake ideas.

We are personally going with a farmyard theme, as both of mine love animals, etc . We will have a barn cake, shedded wheat squares for haybales, and decorate with dollar store plastic animals and tractors & such. We can have a real haybale obstacle course, pin the tail on the donkey (with double stick tape) and such. No, it's not very feminine, but we live on a farm , so it suits us.

    Good Luck!

The Zoo is a great theme for that age. You can usually get a lot of cute animal things for cheap (just make sure they are age appropriate, safe for under three) and any colors for plates napkins ect will usually go. If you have a computer/printer make some color/placemats (like at restaurants ) to let them have an activity. For some thing a little extra special, find out which Animals each really loves. Like with my girls they both really get excited about monkeys, so I would like get little monkey toys for decoration then the kids can play with them after and then take them home so you can get double duty instead of having a lot of decor to go in the garbage or have to store away.
    Hope this is helpful
