I was dreading the first shots also. But thankfully it was all for nothing. They cried alittle for the shot itself, but had no fever or anything afterwards. Although they did sleep more.I got very lucky. As did they. Good luck.

We gave them infant tylenol after the shots, but aside from a little leg pain they didn't have any other problems. No fever, no fussing. One dose of tylenol was all they needed. They were sleepy afterwards, but that was it. Hope your experience is like mine.

A friend of mine (who works in the pharma industry) recommended to give a dose of Tylenol about an hour before the doctor appointment. I never did this with my first daughter (advice came after), but tried it with my twins two weeks ago.

They didn't seem as sore in the legs! They were still slightly fussier than normal for about the first 24 hours afte the shot, but not unbearable at all. Just be sure that you don't overdose - more is not better!

    Good luck!

I brought Tylenol with the twins' shots and they were fine after. I made sure I gave them a bottle also (so nurse them if you nurse). There is a chance that they will be cranky but there is a chance that they won't. Whatever decision you make, I am sure it will be fine. :hug99:

I agree, every baby is different. My pedi also said to give them a dose of tylenol about an hour before the shots; they cried when they got stuck, but not for long. She also had us giving them a dose of tylenol every four hours for 24 hours. They were a bit fussy, and at one point we missed a dose and they were REALLY fussy; it was terrible to watch them and wait for the drug to kick in. So - although I'm not a big believe in taking drugs prophylactically, it made sense in this instance.

good luck, and kudos to you to being a part-time single mom. This is one VERY difficult job!

mine are very fussy babies anyway ... but to my surprise they handled the shots pretty well. They were fussy for about 24 hours then they were fine. they wanted to sleep a lot though ... which was good considering when they were awake they were a little fussy. we gave them a dose of tylenol before the appt. then every 4-6 hours for 24 hours after the appt. good luck!

Mine fussed in the office but fell asleep on the ride home. They both ran a low grade fever overnight. I gave them each one dose of infant tylenol and they were fine by morning.
