When I went to the OB today he said the reason I feel like I'm going to explode is because I'm measuring at 37 weeks..I'm currently 29. He didn't give any indication that this was abnormal or anything, so I didn't bother to ask him if it meant anything?

Does this mean the twins could be coming soon? He has already told me the average is 36 weeks for carrying twins. I'm just wondering how much bigger my stomach can stretch. I've gained 34 pounds so far, and I'm definitely all stomach with these babies! I'm already miserable and having a hard time sleeping and just plain being comfortable. I had to have a cerclage put in due to an incompetent cervix, so we already know that we will be doing a c-section.

    Take Care,
    Elizabeth

It is normal...by 30 weeks I was measuring full term and now that I am almost 34 I can't imagine what the measurement will be. It doesn't mean they are coming sooner, but your uterus thinks it is getting close to delivering so that is why BHC kick in and we are so uncomfortable till the end. I am feeling like an overdone turkey ready to pop!
    Hang in there!

I have been measuring about 10-12 weeks ahead for a while now. I went to the dr yesterday at 23 weeks 5 days and measured at 35 weeks. I can only imagine what I am going to look like when these little girls are ready to come out!

At my last appointment I was 27 weeks and measured at 34 weeks. So yes, it is normal and no, it does not mean that they are coming soon.

LOL..the turkey remark is exactly what I've been saying! I swear my belly button could just pop out at any moment and let us know they are done.

It's so reassuring to see how everyone else is measuring. I'm 28 weeks tomorrow and measured at 35 weeks today at my OB. That explains all of the comments I've been getting. I feel like I already look so bizarre this early on ... I'm pretty small boned and then I have what looks like a huge beach ball strapped to the front of me. I've gained about 25 lbs so far. Take care, everyone!

Just wait, it gets worse. At my 35 week appt today I measured a whopping 44 weeks, yikes, I hate to see what I measure at birth!!

The measurement doesn't really mean anything with twins, that's why they do so many growth u/s, it's just a fun comparison. They use the measuring system to make sure singleton mom's are growing adequately more than anything.

I measured 34 weeks at my 27w 5d appt. Doc said it was perfectly normal for twins.

O.k. am I abnormal. My last appointment was at 25 weeks and I measured 25 weeks. Should I be bigger or something. The doctor said yep, 25 at 25 weeks looks good, then ordered the ultrasound to check growth. I KNOW they are growing, cause I'm not and my stomach is soooooo tight and my belly button is popped out and my babies are stretched from one end of me to the other. It is sooo full in there. People ask if I'm sure I am having twins. Oh yeah no doubt about that. They already fight in there. THAT is exhaudting..let me tell ya.

From what I understand from MY OB is that they measure you but the most accurate way to measure is with u/s. Most of the time, a twin mommy will measure 6-8 weeks ahead of a singleton mommy. But as I have found out and several pps have confirmed is that can change. The OB's always laugh when I come in and they take out the measuring tape, they say this thing is useless but we do it anyway. LOL

    At 30 weeks I measured 41cm.
    At 32 weeks I measured 37cm.
    At 33 weeks I measured 41cm.

They are gaining 1/2 lb a week towards the end so I am sure that 6-8 week rule is thrown out the window and depends on position and how you carry.

AT my last appt I was 18wks 5 days and I was measuring between 28-29 weeks. It's normal and that does not mean you will deliver soon.

Don't worry, I only ever measure 4 weeks ahead- my ob says that's totally normal. Everyone carries differently and depending on how many previous pregnancies you've had also makes a difference.

I'm 21 weeks and I'm measuring at 31 weeks. My doctor didn't seem concerned. She did mention that she hopes that I hold off getting to 40 weeks measuring to early. I'm not sure why though.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's normal to measure big with twins.

I must have had a huge growth spurt recently -- at 31 weeks, I measured 39 and today at my 34 week appt., I measured 48 weeks! :icon_eek: Can't wait to see what the next few weeks bring!
