27 wk appt update

Had a doc appt today. The u/s was good, both babies r looking healthy! Baby boy is 2lbs 6oz, baby Girl is 2lbs 4oz. Both fluid lvls are good. They say im not dialating, even though my Braxton hicks r getting more frequent. My cervix length was 3.75, doc says this is good? Im not sure what it is suppose to be, but if the doc says its fine, then i guess its fine lol. I am now being seen every 2 weeks for regular visit and the 3rd wk for u/s's . So all is good so far my way

any cervical length over 3 is amazing!! I am now like 2 and 1/2. when there is no cervical length it means you are efaced. (I believe)

 

Hey there, the appointment sounds like it went great! I didn't realize we are exactly the same..I'll be 27 weeks tomorrow as well. I don't have my next appt until next wednesday, but I was wondering how they measured your cervix? Is that always an internal exam, or is there some other way your ob knew that? I've not had my ob mention anything about cervix length as of yet, so I think I'll ask about that next time. Just curious...

That's great!! 3 cm and over is great!!!! Mine was at like 1.9cm when I was 28 weeks so you are doing awesome. Effacing is when the cervix thins. Dialating is when it opens and shortening is the length. I think they almost always measure length by a vaginal ultrasound. Thats what my u/s tech told me.

thanks for clearing that up!! Yes my measurments have been done with a vaginal ultra sound (not as uncomfortable as it sounds)

My doc has measured my cervix the last 2 times by u/s- abdomen. They had me empty my bladder then they can see it clear and measured it. I realized when i got home today that they did not measure my belly today- wonder if he ust forgot since we were chatting and doing dialtion checks, or if he purposly didnt since i just had it checked like a week and a half ago? Anyways, i didnt get to hear thier HBs today either, but saw it on the u/s, once again wondering if he forgot in the mix of things, because he actually went through the u/s stuff and explained what everything meant and did dialtion check and talked about PTL warnings?
Anyways he says both are head down and that if they stay that way i can try for a vaginal delivery. i was kinda hoping for a quick and easy c-section lol.
