Hey, our friends had their singleton baby today at 27 weeks. He is 1 pound 4 ounces. I was just looking for some upbeat stories to occupy myself. Thanks..

Yes Me! :) Although mine were a little before 27 weeks.

Emilie was born at 25w3d and weighed 1 lb. 10 oz. and Trevor was born at 26w6d and weighed 2 lbs. 7 oz. I luckily got the steroid shots at 24w when I went in for an emergency cerclage. Emilie was on a vent for 4 days and Trevor NEVER went on one at all.

Emilie had 3 blood transfusions, a mild case of RSV the week before she came home and got an infection while in the NICU. Trevor had 1 blood transfusion and that is it. Emilie was on the vent for 4 days and Trevor never went on one.

They were in the NICU for 8 weeks and came home when I would have been 35 weeks pregnant.

They both walked at 13 months, their PT released them at 18 months and at 23 months now are talking up a storm and have absolutely no lingering effects of being micro preemies!! We are so very fortunate. They truly are our miracle babies.

If you want anymore info., PM me. Good luck to your friend. Did she get the steroid shots?

Mine were born at 24w 5d. Allyssa was 1 lb 9oz and Brayden was 1 lb 9 oz. They are 16 months now and perfectly healthy (Allyssa is now 21 lbs 7 oz and Bryaden is 23 lbs 10 oz)! Both were on the vent for over two months, had several blood transfusions, surgery to fix pda. Alyssa had laser eye surgery to correct rop. They came home from the nicu the day before their due date. They did come home on oxygen for about two weeks. and were on apnea monitors at night for six months. BUT...they are perfect! They have had no ill effects from their prematurity. Both are now over the 25%tile for weight. So, they have caught up great. We have had no health problem since! They had PT for one year and were just dismissed. Alyssa is running all over the place and Brayden had just started to toddle. Our little ones recieved lots of love, support, and prayers for those 3 1/2 months! Stay optimistic!

My DD was born at 23w5d and just turned three. She had a relatively smooth NICU journey: ventilator for 7 weeks, CPAP for a few more, home on a nasal canula...more transfusions that I can count, PDA ligation when she was one week old, several sepsis scares. She started out at 1 lb 1 oz and is a tiny 22 lbs today. She is a smart funny girl, and her only preemie related issues are/were GERD, oral aversions, and a bit of low muscle tone in her hips. If you didn't know her story, you'd think she was just a tiny girl!
