    Hello,
We are planning a trip to Southern CA at the end of June and I will be 24 weeks. This is my first pregnancy so I have no clue what to expect. FYI I am starting out on the already heavy side of the scale, but so far (only 11 weeks) I have lost 2 lbs - not intentionally - m/s has been kicking my butt. I am sure I will make up for that in no time at all though, anyway I digress :p

    Thanks ladies!

We took a flight to San Francisco when I was 20 weeks...now that I'm close to 23 weeks, I would consider that vacation a lot more difficult! Granted, SF has a lot of hills and we basically walked all day for 3 days, but I have really popped in the last few weeks. The plane ride would have been okay (only 2 hours from here), but the exertion and need for frequent bathroom breaks would have been a drag.

Depends upon what type of vacation you plan to have...also if you are having any complications, that would be another factor.

i'm not supposed to travel, i'm being put on bedrest at 20 weeks, because of previous preterm labor issues with my son. I'm 18 weeks now, and pretty uncomfortable standing for long periods of time totally get me, i can't do it i get way too uncomfortable down there, as well as it gets hard to brethe. But if you're going to take a trip somewhere 20 weeks ish is probably better than later.

How far are you from Southern CA? Definitely check with your OB about traveling at that point.

If I recall it is about a 3 1/2 hour flight (SEA to SAN) - I will check with my OB when I see him in a couple of weeks. Understaning that is of course is only if all is going well.

    understand, everyone is different.

at 22 weeks I was on zofran so not sick anymore. I flew from ORegon to Boston with my two kids alone for a few weeks then home again about 24-25W (with dh this time).

I was uncomfortable but nothing that would stop me from doing it.
Go enjoy! You're not going to do that again for a long time!

i am also on the heavier side and am currently 25w4d with my twins. generally, i feel pretty decent. i'm not totally miserable yet, and i'm still working fulltime with 12 hr shifts which totally wear me out. after work, my feet burn and hurt so bad, and also my hips and back are killing me. but after a night's sleep, i'm usually better. today i went to the mall and ended up parking at one end and walking all the way to the opposite end, which was alright... i walked slow, but by the time i needed to turn around and head back to the car, i really wished i'd gotten one of those cart-things to ride back. i started getting a little crampy or having ligament pain, one of the two. basically my point is... rest frequently, dont overdo it, and dont be afraid to ride instead of walk! let people laugh if they want.... lol.

We drove down to NC when I was about 21 weeks. It was a two day trip. My DH has a big truck so it wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't do it again. We spent a lot of time at my moms house so I could relax, but we also did a lot of sight seeing. We had to stop at least every two hours to walk around and of course use the bathroom. I don't regret it, it was great to see my mom and the ocean, it was kind of renewing. Just make sure if you drive or fly to walk around as often as you can so you don't get blood clots and drink way more than you need to. I drank a lot and I still swelled more than I have any other time this pregnancy. Have a great trip.

I was in a lot of pain at 23 weeks but everyone is different. You could feel great but it hard to predict.

I was on modified bedrest at 24 weeks and full on hospital bedrest at 25 weeks 1 day. Like the pp poster said, Everyone is different. It really depends on how your pregnancy is progressing and how you feel. I would definintely talk to you Dr though. GL, I hope it works out for you!

I didn't feel too badly at 24 weeks, but traveling always takes a lot out of me. I guess you need to ask your OB and take it from there.
