I am 23 weeks and yesterday I had some cramping in my lower stomach. Kinda felt like my stomach was going to fall off. I also had some shooting type pain in my belly button and I am not sure if it is my cervix, but it feels weird. Not necessarily painful, but something. Any suggestions? I am trying to get into the doc this morning. I have an appointment tomorrow, but don't want to wait that long.

Sounds like contractions, probably Braxton Hicks. I started contracting right at 23 weeks also. I went into Emergency and they did the fFn test to see if I was in pre-term labor. I wasn't. So they hydrated me. I went home and continued to contract with no changes to my cervix until the day they were born by c-section at 37w3d. I'm sure they will want to check your cervix length. Take it easy, drink lots of water. Also my contraction did better with sleep and eating lots of protein.

I think thats about the time I started having braxton hicks also....The just told me to drink 2 gallons of water a day ( yea, that never happened! You think you have to pee alot now!! lol ) But, the water helps hydrate and calm your uterus and helps it no be so irritable so the subside! Good luck....Glad your going to the DR!!!

I was thinking too it is probably BH. Be sure to drink lots of water and take it easy when you can. If it would ease your mind, you could call your OB as well, just to be sure.

I agree if you are concerned you should call your Dr. It is always better to be safe rather than sorry. Good Luck!

It could be BH or maybe even ligament stretching pains... If you get up too fast, sneeze, stretch too far, etc. it can make the ligaments around your uterus stretch a little too far...

How much water are you drinking? I've had the BH contrx since around 16 weeks, but that is more of a tightening through my abdomen that only lasts a little bit & then releases. I'm 34.5 weeks & yesterday I started cramping that would radiate from my abdomen to my back. It wasn't anything like the BH contrx that I've experienced....more like a menstrual cramping. I had been crampy all day & just didn't feel much like eating or drinking---I had only consumed about 32 oz. of water all day. I usually drink WAY more than that. I called the Birthing Center & they told me to drink about 40 oz. of water & see if it subsided within an hour. I started chugging water & the cramping completely went away. So, proper hydration plays a HUGE part in cramping. Try to keep up on drinking tons of water, but definitely get checked out if you feel it's something other than that!!! Good luck!! Oh- I also have lots of semi-pain directly behind my belly button. It's very sensitive to touch....but my bb popped out very early on--it's a definite outie right now. :) I think if one of the babies is pushing in that area it becomes very tender and irritated!?!

My first thought was stretching, ligament pain. I got stabbing pains here and there with that. However, if you feel them regularly, probably BH. If you have any concern at all about it, call your doc. It never hurts to call the doc.
