I am 23 weeks and 1 day to be exact. But I have gained a total of about 30 pounds so far I dont know if that is too much my doctor has not said anything about my weight gain. At my last appointment at 22 weeks I had gained 10 pounds in 4 weeks.

All this extra weight is starting to distribute its self to my hips and but and a little in the boobs.

Just thought I would ask. How much weight everyone had gained by week 23?

I am 24 weeks, I have gained 34. My doc says it is fine. I am always worried about it. He told me yet again yesterday that I am doing fine and if he was concerned with my weight, he would let me know.

I gained 24 by 24 weeks, my doctor said that was perfect. But I also think that height and weight pre-pregnancy has something to do with it - so it is hard to say how much each person should gain.

I also gained a lot of weight quickly. Lost some weight in my first tri, then from week 13-24 I gained all of it. I think 1 week I gained like 9 pounds one time!

megan, it really depends...each woman is so different, my OB told me too not to be concerned about weight. all what's important (for my OB) that babies growth is on track, and that the gain is steadily, not no gain for a long time and then too much, etc.
I gained also 23 pounds at my last appt, that was at 22 weeks or so, I'll see tomorrow how much I'm up now and I am curious about babies weights too.

    Hi Megan,
I just posted a question about weight gain. By week 23, I had gained about 20 lbs - but apparently, am now making up for lost time! :)
Have gained about 8b lbs in the last 2 weeks! But, yes, everyone is different and b/c twins are usually born earlier than singletons, it is so important to gain the weight needed to grow big, beautiful babies!
Sounds like you are doing just fine. :)

That sounds just fine. Have you read (or looked at) Barbara Luke's book? It has charts on appropriate weight gain for each week of your pregnancy. It kind of depends on your body type (if you were overweight, underweight or normal before your pregnancy), but 30 pounds seems to be in the range.

I had gained 23 pounds at 23 weeks...then I gained 2 pounds a week for two weeks and now have leveled off to about 33 pounds.

At my last appointment (22 weeks) I had gained 19 lbs. I am all about Dr Luke's book and the proper weight gain. I was of average weight for my height and probably should have gained more by now, but it is the holiday season and I am sure by my next appointment on 1/02 (25 weeks) I will have gained several more pounds. As other posters said, each pregnancy is different and moms of twins usually need to gain more quicker, since in the end it is hard to eat big meals with out tummies being seriously squished in there.

    Good luck!

I'm not sure exactly how much I had gained at 23 weeks, but now at 26 1/2 weeks, I've gained 42 lbs! I'm ok with it though because I want these babies to GROW! Although I am certainly indulging somewhat in sweets, it is mostly from good healthy food, which is what is important. :)

I think you're doing just fine!

I don't remember exactly, but I think I had gained about 23 pounds at 23 weeks. By the end, I put on 55-60.

i have to admit it, I get on the scale backwards, as I don’t want to even consider not eating to not gain weight… I would subconsciously… plus I gained 80 + with my son (and my Dr was never concerned) and was back to my regular jeans at my 2 weeks check up… so I know I will gain and I will loose… BUT to answer your question I’m only 19 w and I heard them move the scale to the 150 marker  (I started 123)… so I don’t know how much for sure but it has to be at least 25… my DH knowing my body issues said, no hun they moved it down as the person before you was 150+… nice try hun  … but I have no worries, BOTH my boys are measuring a week and half further then I am… so they are healthy and that’s MY goal…

Dr. Luke's book was great to read. I am 34 weeks but I remember gaining a ton of weight around 20 -24 weeks. I think I gained 13 pounds in 4 weeks. You are in the time frame where you need to eat alot and gain weight for the babies. This is the time when they are growing so rapidly and pretty soon your stomach will be so smooshed that you won't ba able to eat too much. I am 34 weeks and sometimes I have to make myself eat because I don't have an appetite. When I do eat it is not a lot because I get full so fast. Don't worry about weight. I have only gained 1 pound in 2 weeks. I have gained 47 pounds so far. So, eat girl!!!

I am a little over 19 weeks and as of my last apt. a week ago, I was 154. This is about 30 lbs. My dr. wasn't concerned, so for you , I wouldn't worry.

I didn't gain any weight until week 30 - but I'm overweight to begin with and the babies lived off of me!

So up until, I think it was 22-24 weeks I had only gained 7 pounds. All of a sudden I am at 29 total pounds! For two weeks it was a gain over 10 lbs and then this past week it has slowed down again, I only gained 2 last week. It is CRAZY! I also have 5 pounds of baby in me now, but what is the extra 24 pounds for?!?!?!? :)

I am on the heavier side too and have gained 14 pounds. I gained 10 pounds last month and my doc freaked out and is sending me to an endo today. She thought I was borderline GD with my first child so I imagine that they will just make me check my bloodsugar 4x a day for the remaining time of my pregnancy. She told me that she only wanted me to gain 30-35 with the twins.

When talking to all of my friends they all say that having abig month, especially with twins is normal, so hang in there and don't worry too much about it. The main goal for all of us is to bring home 2 happy and healthy babies.

    I'm only 19 weeks.
I've gained 7 lbs so far. I am overweight and my dr only wants me to gain 20 lbs. I will see the perinatalogist in 2 weeks for the first time and we will see what he says.

I don't remember at that point how much I had gained (I'm at 20 right now with my current pregnancy at 22.5 weeks). There were two appts. (4 week intravals) that I had gained 11 lbs and the nurse said, oh, don't worry about it, you're having twins!

If your doctor doesn't seem worried, I wouldn't be.

Thanks!!! I was beginning to get worried! I have only gained 4 lbs. too, as of 17 weeks. You have made me feel better!

I am overweight too, and I figure it this way... the more the babies can live off of me, the less I have to loose later! LOL! I am not trying to not gain weight, I just don't seem as hungry as I did with my other pgs.
