    i am 22W3D today.

U/s showed that baby A is doing just fine, and already kicking at and antagonizing his brother alot.

Baby B....the fluid around him seemed to be a bit less than A's. At the last u/s he had 2mm of fluid around his heart which was not seen there today, so that's good. But the peri was saying something about baby A's bloodflow in the umbilical cord being somewhat restricted. That his heart itself was fine, but that the issue is with the cord. She said something about possible growth restriction. That she can't say if it is the beginning of TTTS or if it is just a fluke, but that i will now have to be seen for u/s every week instead of every 2 weeks, to monitor the babies closely.

i'm keeping in mind that the babies are only about 2 weeks from viability, and while i don't want anything to go wrong, if it's going to happen then i'm glad it will be so now instead of a month ago when they would have never survived. Cervex check showed me down from 4.5 to 4 this time, but still holding strong. Still on modified bedrest, laying on left side, and drinking enough water that i think i might float away.

I just wanted to say good luck and I wish you nothing but the best. It is great that they will be doing more frequent u/s.

Stay strong - things are always changing with these little ones inside so next week can bring about a wonderful change!

I know this is so easy to say but really hard to do, but try not to worry. It probably is only an issue when there is a big gap between the two and if the smaller one's doppler (cord blood flow) is poor. With my mono/di twins, at 20 weeks the little one (who is definitely growth restricted) was 2wks 4 days behind his brother. At the moment (I'm 21 weeks) the blood flow is good so the dr is hopeful of getting us to 30 weeks. And Tarin, who had a consistent 2 wk difference with her mono/di twins has just given birth to 2 healthy, albeit little, babies at 29 wks. Check out my post a few days back when I asked about IUGR, I got lots of positive stories.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Drink 4 Boost or Ensure protein shakes per day. It WILL help.

Good luck and if you feel anything strange, go right to the doctor.

Are they mono-di?? Must be. I'm glad your Peri is watching you closely.

    Please keep us posted :)

    Congratulations on your boys.

I am sorry you have to worry but at least you are already 22 weeks. I hope and pray you can keep your kiddos in as long as possible! At least you get to see them more often and know how they are doing.

At least you'll have frequent monitoring now. I'm sure things will be fine bc of that. Are they sending you to a perinatal cardiologist? The girls just had their echos done yesterday by one. I'll be seen by them and my peri/MFM every week now for monitoring.

I am DEFINITELY sending NO TTTS VIBES your way! Keep us posted :)

Truly try not to worry right now. We were diagnosed with IUGR and I was admitted to the hospital for bed rest and monitoring at 26w5d. Our girls were mono/di and baby A had restricted cord blood flow. We nearly made it to our original delivery goal of 34 weeks (my OB and peri are of the school of thought that mono/di twins should not go past 34 weeks). I delivered at 5:30 pm the night before what would have been 34 weeks.

My girls are working on day 15 in the NICU but both doing very well. Bettye Katheryne should be home in the next few days. She is 4lb 8oz and eating her full bottle at the past 9 feedings. Once they are sure she is comfortable with the bottles consistently, she gets to come home. Aurora, our IUGR baby, is 2lb 9oz and just needs to grow.

Please feel free to PM me with questions if you find yourself further into the IUGR journey. I know how I felt when we were blindsided with all of this so feel free to ask anything you can think of!

The IUGR scares the hell out of me. Baby A is much more active than B ( the one with the cord bloodflow issue ), and i freak out if i feel A all day but not B. Then i'm in the bed poking and prodding at him and trying to get him to move so i know he's ok. i hadn't felt B in almost 2 days but got him to kick me tonight and am soooo relieved. i was alot less concerned before the peri told me about bloodflow problems in the cord. Now i just want them both to be moving all the time.
