Syd has been waking early off and on this last week. Yesterday was the kicker at 5:30. Any suggestions- DH goes in to try to soothe her- sometimes it works but yesterday she got more fired up so he brought her out to the living room. HE didn't want it waking Kaysie. But then, I have one up early and cranky and one well rested ready to go. What would you do? Do I let her cry - even if she awakens her sister - keeping them on the exact same schedule. We haven't really had this problem- at least not for a long time so I wasn't sure what would work the best?

What I've been doing is sneaking in sippy cups of water and some books in the middle of the night when I check on them. Now in the mornings they are usually happy for a bit longer. By the way, my twins are the same age as yours.

I'll be interested in the replies too. Trevor has been waking early and today it was 5:40am, maybe he and Syd are conspiring about this  . I did not go to get him and hoped he would fall back asleep, but was still making noise off and on at 6:45, so I got him then. Emilie has been sleeping until 8ish, so I'm having the same problem as you, different schedules! I don't want to wake Emilie that early though.

I am hoping it is a phase and it will end soon, I am not going to be getting up at 5:30am!! So I feel your pain!

If you leave her in there does she fuss until someone comes in or will she go back to sleep if you leave her there?

Nick is my early bird...to the tune of about 4:45 these days.

    We've tried:
*bringing him to bed with us (that only made him wake/come to bed with us earlier and earlier until it was 10pm!)
*letting him cry (he's a demanding SCREAMER), which always wakes Joe (even though he's in a different room)
*getting up and starting the day (like you mentioned, one cranky, one well-rested)
*My latest gimmick is to put a night light on a timer to come on at 6am in his room as his "morning light" signal. I'm going to give it a week and see if there's any difference.

Bottom line, I think each kid/set of twins is different. Some will actually go back to sleep, or at least be quiet until a somewhat decent hour. Others (like my Nick) are intent on ensuring that NO ONE gets to sleep if he's awake and ready to roll.

We get this from Amy for a few days every once in a while (5:30ish), and we leave her in her crib. If Sarah is really sound asleep, she can sleep through the chatting/fussing. (She's more likely to wake up if I go in to get Amy.) We have to get them both up by 7 to get to work/daycare anyway.

There's no way I can sleep through her noise (though DH can manage it if I get up and leave the room <_< ), but I take the time to shower and get breakfast ready. I just consider Amy my alarm clock.

Syd is my wake up and cry baby. Kaysie is my wake up and sing or talk baby. So, needless to say- when she wakes up- everyone wakes up.
