2 umbrella strollers

We already have a Graco Duoglider and a double jogging stroller. But the duoglider is a bit of a pain lugging it in and out of the car (big, a little heavy), and I dread making more than one stop, but it's manageable and I'm probably just being a baby. But I was thinking maybe getting 2 umbrella strollers and some connector clips would make things easier? So if I had just one baby with me I can easily take one stroller, and if I did have both they wouldn't take up much trunk space, they'd be lighter and probably easier to open and close?

Would it be beneficial having 2 umbrella strollers after age 1, or is it just overkill since I already have the other two strollers - and really nothing is going to make lugging twins around any easier?

Oh, and do those connector clips work?

We just bought two umbrellas at age 2, and there were many times prior to that I wished we had had them. For example...trips to the mall. If we had them, dh and I could have gone off in separate directions certainly able to manage one-on-one better than two-on-one.

We haven't used the stroller connectors yet.

We have two light weight strollers that we use for trips to the mall, etc. if both of us will be there. Haven't ever tried to connector clips though. Having two single strollers is very nice at the mall because we can go in different directions and they fit in most places easier than the duo glider. (I'm with you on how much of a pain that stroller is!!)

Hmm.. didn't know they even had connector clips.. good to know! I totally agree with you about the duoglider. After a few weeks, it was all scuffed up & the canopies broke off from stuffing it in the trunk. I use two umbrella strollers myself. If I have one baby, like you mentioned, its less hassle. Plus, when I go to the mall, I like to be able to look around without worrying about whether or not the huge dub stroller will fit between the racks or if I'm about to run into the feet of the people in front of me

We have the double umbrella that we use instead of the duoglider (can't stand it either). We also have a single umbrella that has been very nice to have. We are going to get another one so that we can split up and to make getting around easier when there's two of us.

That is a great idea about having two of them. I think I will put that on my list of things I want to get. Thinking of things we want to do this summer as a family and that would be great if we could each have a baby, especially if we want to look at different things.

We had some, and they were used a total of 3 times each--and one of those times was for the airport. The stroller connectors make it even wider, so it is harder to get through doors. I just found they were more hassle than they were worth.

Same. The girls seemed to hate them...

I think having two umbrella strollers is great for the times there are two adults or when you take only one out with you.
However I don't think I'd ever use them with stroller connectors-they just look really akward and they make the stroller so wide I don't know how you'd fit through places.

The other time having single strollers came in handy for me was when they were getting to the age that they wanted to walk instead of sitting in the stroller. I'd take a single stroller and let them take turns walking or riding-it was so much easier to get one to walk nicely and we could go further because they got to rest in the stroller when they were tired. We also got one buggy board (do you call them stroller boards?) and then if I had to take them somewhere a that would be difficult with a double (on the bus, in small shops) I had an alternative. It was also useful for when they were good at walking but we were going out for the whole day (day trips to the zoo etc), I didn't want to lug the double when they would only be sitting in it for a hour or two throughout the day. Having the single with a buggy board ment they could both have a break from walking if they got worn out and I had somewhere to stash all our stuff!

I don't have any. I just can't bring myself to buy a 3rd stroller. Most of the time I can get away with not using a stroller at all as long as the store has a shopping cart.

We already had a good umbrella stroller from my older DD (the Maclaren Volo), and I bought another one when my twins were about a year old. We use them all the time if we go somewhere as a family -- the mall, zoo, vacation, whatever -- it's SO much easier to push a small, individual stroller if DH and I are both available to do it. Even Nadia can push one stroller for a little while, in a pinch. And, they're light and fold up very small.

Plus, if we have to eat lunch in the strollers, it's a lot easier because they can't reach each other to pull hair, fight, etc.

I do have stroller clips, but I've never used them.

We have 2 umbrella strollers but not the connectors. I LOVE them! There are so many times when we use them. Like when I'm just taking one baby or there's 2 of us going to the mall so we each take one.

Definitely worth it in my mind! Couldn't live without them.

I would say they are probably useful if you have the need to go in two separate directions. If you're looking to use it with with the connector, I agree with pp, it makes it too wide to fit through a standard door.

Sorry, I don't think I read your post fully before I replied! Two umbrella strollers are handy, yes, but not if you need to do errands by yourself, of course.

For that, look into a light, double umbrella stroller that you can keep in your car. I've heard people like the Jeep for this purpose, and it's relatively cheap. It's no-frills, though, and you'd only use it for running quick errands where you have to make several stops.

I have the Inglesina Twin Swift, and I got an older model on Ebay for not much money....I really like it. It does fold up small. Another one that people love is the Baby Jogger City Mini Double, but it's a little more expensive. I think Maclaren and Combi both make lightweight side-by-side strollers, but people have varying opinions on them...
